A litigant in person is where somebody represents themselves in legal proceedings. It could be an individual acting without legal representation, or it could be a company that acts for itself without lawyers. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of litigants in person. This new edition has been totally revised. It provides updated guidance on how to represent yourself in court cases. Detailed advice is given in several areas of law which the litigant in person might encounter. With an overview of the law and procedure, you can make a reasoned decision as to whether you have a claim or a defence, and if you do, you can decide whether to pursue the case yourself or seek assistance from a lawyer. It is made clear that in almost all cases, legal advice should be sought because a consultation with a legal professional is essential before embarking on any significant legal action.
