Antigua and Barbuda is a twin island nation located in the Eastern Caribbean. It is a hidden gem of the Caribbean and referred to as the 'Land of 365 Beaches', because of the numerous white and pink sand beaches that surround the islands. The twin island nation also boasts various historical landmarks, some of which date back to the late 1600s. 'All About Antigua and Barbuda' takes visitors through a journey of the unique history and heritage of Antigua and Barbuda. The book digs a little deeper into the historical aspects of some of the sites and attractions such as Betty's Hope sugar plantation, St. John's Cathedral, Nelson's Dockyard and the vibrant Antigua Carnival. In addition, this book is a beautifully photographed collection of places to visit and offers an insightful overview of the history, culture and people of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Historical Churches of the Caribbean Island of Antigua is a two-part book. Part one examines and analyses the complex relationship between the Older Established Churches, Slavery and their Black converts.Part two showcases 24 historic churches and detail their history, congregation establishment, architectural skills and craftsmanship, and the strong influence they had on the religious and social life of the people. According to the research evidence, missionaries and slave owners joined forces to convert enslaved Africans to Christianity. Both parties benefited from this mutual arrangement, as missionaries gained souls and slave owners gained a very obedient slave population. With the rise of black consciousness and a renewed emphasis on reparations for slavery, the descendants of slaves have begun to question Christianity's role in slavery, its abuses and oppression.
