Amelia struggles with her emotions. She believes other people make her angry. Mr. Floppy shows her that it is not really other people who force her to be angry. Amelia discovers what she is THINKING about people and situations that creates her feelings.As Amelia remembers past situations that angered her, she is able to view them differently by changing her focus from herself to the situation. When she alters her perspective, her emotions also change. It is then she realizes that it is her thoughts that produce her feelings.Mr. Floppy teaches her a life lesson. Her new approach is a three-step process: step 1 - do not immediately react, step 2 - take a deep breath, step 3 - shift focus to the other person and how they feel. This process enabled Amelia to diffuse her anger and replace it with more peaceful emotions.
Abigayle receives magic glasses that allow her to observe the tremendous energy of words. She witnesses the wonderful feeling of positive words as well as the negativity of teasing, name-calling, and bullying. The adventure makes her determined to choose words wisely, thereby creating a better world.Coaching children to be observant of how words create feelings will help them become empathetic young adults. Words are powerful, and our choice of words will add happiness or sorrow to those we interact with.
