This is the first book in the series. It focusses on the beauty of nature, but also reminds us that nature can be dangerous. When Danni and her mother visited a farm in Texas, the eight-year-old girl had many adventures. She spent time in the field, enjoying the flowers and trees. After riding a pony, she fed the ducks and spent some time with other farm animals. The young girl enjoyed the fresh, healthy meals on the farm, but the wild storms scared her a little. When a hurricane approached, they all had to hide in the basement until it was safe.

When two children ran away from home to escape their cruel stepmother, they were lost in the forest. A kind old lady came to their rescue. Whilst under her protection, the mystery of their mother's disappearance slowly unfolds, exposing the deceit of their stepmother.

When a young boy, who loved sweets, went to the shop for his mother, he was mesmerised by a large, pink sweet. She suddenly grew bigger and grabbed hold of him. Although he tried, he could not get away from her.At her home, entirely made of sweets, chocolates, cookies and cakes, the sweet forced him to do the housework, while she held parties for her friends.Would he be able to escape? Would somebody rescue him?
