Luckily for him, in his junior year, he had the opportunity to be part of a cultural exchange-travel program to go across the Atlantic Ocean to Panama. His best friend Beto joins him. They stay with two different host families. Enrique's host family lives and owns a hostal in "El Valle", and they have a daughter named Lily, who meets him at the airport in her Uber. There was an immediate connection between Lily and Enrique, which develops a friendship that continues beyond the legend of the mountain into the preservation of the trail.
