From 1915 until his death in 1940, Neville Chamberlain wrote detailed weekly epistles to his sisters. This volume collects together letters that he wrote between 1921 and 1927 - "The Reform Years" - and offers a primary source of historical evidence and insight.

This first volume of Chamberlain's letters covers the crucial formative period from his election as Lord Mayor of Birmingham, through his ill-fated emergence on the national stage as head of the newly-created Department of National Service in 1917, to his entry to the Commons at the age of 50.
