Women in Welsh Coal Mining is the first extensive examination of the women and girls who worked, lived, and died in the Welsh coal fields. With an introduction by Ceri Thompson of the Big Pit National Coal Museum.

In 1864, a poor Welsh boy, William Pritchard Morgan, emigrated to Australia to make his fortune. He returned a wealthy lawyer and aspiring politician, having used his riches to invest in gold mines and develop new techniques of recovering gold.

Unlike other books on cross-dressing, this is the only one which does not concentrate on fashion, lesbians or transmen, but looks at women across society thereby challenging existing women's history.
