A science fiction novel based on a young married couple, Tom and Marianne, striving to become a family of three. The story begins with the aftermath of the death of Tom's sister and the need for a storage facility to allow time for the disposal of her goods. During one of his early visits, Tom is intrigued with a crowd of individuals gathered to bid at an auction for delinquent storage units. He joins the crowd and bids on the final unit and wins and becomes the owner of the contents which is only an old metal box like a safe on wheels. He moves the box into his unit and returns to work. Tom is a lead software programmer working for Cyberworks, a cybersecurity software company, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cyberworks is responsible for organizing and sponsoring a government conference on Cybersecurity. The conference introduces a request for proposal on a major contractual effort called "CyberDefense of the 21st Century". The conference brings together Senator Stanfield, Chair of the Senate National Intelligence Committee, General Halsey, Commander of DISA, Colonel Wiggins, Executive and Government Contract Program Manager, and the eight foremost competent cybersecurity companies in the United States. Tom is the lead "gopher" for the conference. You might say Tom is naïve, but he develops into a leader in a tumultuous series of events. Having a child is a wonder, but in all the joy, the danger in his world explodes into a turbulent and catastrophic untold way. Prepare Ye! The NBox is a work of imagination. Names, characters, places, and incidents are the author's imagination and are used fictitiously. Any reference to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, are entirely coincidental but vital to the story line.
