In this philosophical treatise, Roubiczek explores the ways in which humans have misunderstood themselves and the world around them. Drawing from a range of disciplines, including psychology, sociology, and economics, Roubiczek offers a compelling critique of modernity and proposes a new vision of humanity's place in the cosmos. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.This work is in the "public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. First published in 1952, Thinking in Opposites insists on the need for a carefully thought-out, rather than a merely authoritarian, basis for faith.
In this 1969 text, Paul Roubiczek argues that in the age of science there is still a place for ethics and a need for the philosophical method. He attempts to prove this by examining the contributions of three disciplines - history, psychology and sociology - towards man's understanding of his moral involvement with society.
Roubiczek attempts a proper balance between the objectivity of theory and personal experience. Concentrating on the valuable aspects of Existentialism, he looks for positive results which can be philosophically justified and at the same time, accepted as a way of life. The book is therefore both an introduction to this school of philosophy and a critique of it.
