This book was written out of my heart''s desire to understand the why and wherefore of the common practices of Christianity. Although this book is written for the new believer, it is also a refresher for the person who has forgotten the reasons why we do...what we do.Many of the characteristics of the Church are not addressed as to its origin.Thereby, the New Believers often are missing out on the essential knowledge of why we need for such actions. In overlooking these precepts, we thereby miss the enabling power and meaning of trademarks of the belief system. But it is important that we all understand the need for the concepts in the Word. Why do we baptize? Why do we take communion? This book explores the possibilities of Christian terms and how that they relate to the believer of Jesus Christ. Also, there are testimonies that will remind you of the love of Jesus Christ. These testimonies are taken from a people who, just like you, found that God met them in their lives. It is my hope that this will be a tool that leads the reader into possibilities which await the children of a Mighty God. Author Penny Kirksey lives in Tupelo, MS. as a wife, mother and grandmother. Having served in many areas of the church over the last forty years, Penny ministers primarily as a Prophetic Intercessor. It was her curiosity of the expected traditions of the church that caused her to spend time researching the purposes of the terms and foundations of the Christian belief system.
When Penny Kirksey looked into her adopted infant son’s eyes, she didn’t realize the challenges that lay ahead for both of them. As he grew up, things did not go as planned, and she found herself as a mother of a young man battling drug addiction who had strayed far from God. In desperation, she released her son to the Lord, asking Him to do whatever it took to bring her son back into the kingdom of God. Within a month, her son was arrested on a federal charge and found himself behind bars.Paul’s Song: A Christian Guide for Parents of Incarcerated Children by Penny Kirksey is a compelling memoir, collection of letters, and resource for parents of incarcerated children all wrapped into one. Inspired by how Paul and Silas sang songs of praise in prison and freed the captives, Penny began to write daily devotionals to her son, breaking down the passages of Scripture included and teaching him how to seek the Lord on his own. This moving book takes a look at the issue of incarceration from a holistic point of view—acknowledging the actions of the adult children which led to their current circumstance but also looking at how parents can actually be Christian enablers and be inadvertently used by the enemy to help keep their children from establishing strong relationships with the Lord on their own. Whether your child is physically incarcerated or experiencing some other bondage or stronghold, this book will guide you as a parent while you seek to minister and help draw your child back to the Lord. It’s true that there’s nothing like a parent’s love, but even that pales in comparison next to the deep, abiding love we experience from our Father.
