Hiraeth [hir¿¿TH] is a Welsh word that has no direct English translation. It likens it to a homesickness blended with grief and sadness over the lost or departed, especially in the context of Welsh culture. The Etymology breaks down to 'hir' and '-aeth'. (Closest equivalent to English would be 'longing'.)In Etymology, 'hir' means 'long' + 'aeth' means 'pain, grief, sorrow, and longing'. Hiraeth is a homesickness and deep yearning for places and feelings from your past that you can't return to or even those places and feelings you've never been to or experienced. Hiraeth can also mean nostalgia for your past self, the people who are long gone, or the emotions you used to feel. It is a mixture of emotions like longing, yearning, wistfulness, nostalgia, or a sincere desire for what never existed or no longer does.These pages are filled with so many emotional moments of my life, of me. This book came from years of questionable decisions and learning my lessons - the hard way. I think more people relate to the darker writing because we are all going through that to some degree. I am not afraid to speak out on it and be that voice.
