Indian mustard Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss}is the most important rabi oilseed crop. It occupies a prominent position in Indian oilseeds scenario and plays a vital role in oil seed economy of our country. Its oil is most important edible oil in north-India which is difficult to be replaced by other oils. The seeds and oils are used as condiments in preparation of pickles and for flavorings curries and vegetables. The cakes are usually used as cattle feed and rarely used as organic manure, though they are of high manurial value.
