Summer has made its way up the mountain to Clear Creek, and with the new season, the town is offering a slew of summer classes at the community center. Happy to participate, Jemma and her yarn shop sponsor a fiber-dying class taught by her oldest friend, Kitty. When a mysterious man walks into class, something about him pulls Jemma into a tangle. Learning Kitty once knew him, Jemma has questions - but her friend is staying mum. Then Jemma goes on an early-morning walk and discovers the man dead. This time, Jemma's determined to stay out of the investigation - until she learns that because of a past she's been hiding, Kitty is the main suspect! Unwilling to turn her back on her friend, Jemma starts looking for a dropped stitch. Because somewhere, there's a person with dye on their hands.
Autumn has arrived in the Rocky Mountains. The resort that was almost the death of the small town of Clear Creek is trying to mend relations by hosting a local artisan show. Jemma has been asked to create a display showing beginner projects all the way up to expert. Hoping to knit up attention for the shops in Clear Creek, she agrees. The last thing she expects is to trip over a body in the middle of the exhibits. Curiosity piqued, she wants to know how someone was killed under the watchful eyes of the resort's security staff - headed by the man she loves. Even though her past experiences have taught Jemma she doesn't want to be anywhere near a killer, when Deputy Chase surprises everyone by asking for her help she can't bring herself to say no. Because if the killer isn't bound off before the resort guests leave, someone will get away with murder.
Murder investigations can really kill your zen.Octavia Fields should know better than to judge things by their appearance. After all, most people don't expect a nomadic hippie to be a classical violist-let alone one who runs a seasonal music shop at Aerie Pines, the summer home of the Aerie Peaks Symphony. But when her business season starts off on the wrong note, it's obviously the persnickety concertmaster's fault. If he hadn't turned up dead-leaving Octavia to find his body- she wouldn't have to deal with the handsome detective who isn't sure what to think of her impressive arrest record. With symphony members cornering Octavia to pass on "evidence" by way of sotto-voce rumors, it shouldn't surprise her to learn the helpful musicians aren't the only ones who believe Octavia's helping with the investigation. When a threatening letter arrives, it's clear the killer thinks she's playing harmony to the detective, too. When the detective doesn't appear to be making progress on the case, Octavia decides it's up to her to solve the mystery-before the killer hears their cue to silence her!
