The Price of a Seat is a fictional account of a man who moved to Detroit, Michigan in the 1930's in search of a better life for him and his family. Along the way he develops a habit of drinking heavily which begins to interfere with his hopes and dreams. The Price of a Seat is not AA-approved literature. It's sole purpose is to bring to life the plight of an alcoholic using some comical and some not so comical scenarios. Hopefully, it will provide people who have been down a similar road a fun way to interact with others. The events, people, and dialogue listed within this book are all fictional. Although, The Downtown group based in Detroit, Michigan was a real AA group and the prayer within the play is one they would use in their meetings.

This book is not AA-approved literature. Its sole purpose is to shed some light on the unbelievably beautiful history of Alcoholics Anonymous. Hopefully, it will provide members of AA a fun way to interact with one another while at the same time giving insight to how it all started. AA was founded in 1935, but this play goes all the way back to 1926, which is when some believe the first spark of hope was given and led to the start of this wonderful fellowship that has saved so many lives. The events and people listed within this book are all very real. The dialogue used is fictional and meant to help bring life to these monumental events.
