This is a compassion and discipleship program that encourages and guides us on our individual journey of change, our letting go of chains that bind, those habits, hurts and shortcomings that hold us back from experiencing true freedom and joy in Christ Jesus. Many of us are wounded people who need healing from anger, resentment, unforgiveness, unresolved grief, shame, guilt or sadness. In this 13-week program we are guided and enabled using God's Word, prayer, weekly lessons, gender-specific small group discussions and the work of the Holy Spirit in "Putting off the old self and putting on the new" (Ephesians 4:22-24 paraphrased). This Participant's Guide is a companion to the PATHWAY OF FREEDOM LEADER'S GUIDE that is used in directing the program.

The purpose of this book of prayers is to lift up the hurting, the hopeful and the praiseful, to draw each of us closer to the Lord of all compassion, forgiveness, mercy and love. While each prayer reflects, to some degree, the author's knowledge and experience of the Lord, the meaning, depth and flow of each prayer came from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We are all hurting, hopeful and praiseful children of the King. We are all of these things, in varying degrees, during the differing seasons and circumstances of our lives. Who among us, whether new or mature in the Lord, can say that we do not hurt at times, that our hope does not vary in intensity as the war rages between the flesh and the spirit, that our praise does not flow as joyful shouts, then as quiet whispers. No matter the season, the circumstances, or the distance we have traveled in our Christian walk, no hurt can overwhelm us, the flame of hope can never be extinguished, and praise will ever be on our lips.
Tired of the complacent attitudes Kentucky politicians showed toward education, the Prichard Committee formed to galvanize the citizens of Kentucky to attack the state's historic educational deficits. Based on his experience with the committee, Sexton provides guidance for citizens of all states who are interested in implementing school reform.
