Of the various English translations of Freud's major works to appear in his lifetime, only one was authorized by Freud himself: The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud under the general editorship of James Strachey.
The Interpretation of Dreams is a seminal work of psychological theory and probably the most important of Freud's output. This new deluxe edition boasts a new introduction by expert Dr Richard Stevens, discussing it in the round, its initial impact and subsequent influence on modern thought, as one of the great works of our cultural heritage.
Makes the Freud/Jung correspondence accessible to a general readership at a time of renewed critical and historical reevaluation of the documentary roots of modern psychoanalysis.
In the manner of the eighteenth-century philosophe, Freud argued that religion and science were mortal enemies. Early in the century, he began to think about religion psychoanalytically and to discuss it in his writings. The Future of an Illusion, Freud's best known and most emphatic psychoanalytic exploration of religion, is the culmination of a lifelong pattern of thinking.
