Sophie Mereau (1770-1806) war eine Schriftstellerin der deutschen Romantik. Sophie Mereau veröffentlichte diverse Erzählungen und Essays, Gedichte und zwei Romane. Des Weiteren war sie Herausgeberin mehrerer Almanache und der Zeitschrift Kalathiskos. In Schillers Zeitschrift Die Horen erscheinen die ersten acht Briefe der Erstfassung ihres Romans Amanda und Eduard Aus dem Buch: "Heute erhielt ich diesen Brief von Eduard selbst. - Wie sonderbar, ist in meinem Leben, das Licht vertheilt!
