Nine Paris of Boots in Vietnam is a sobering reminder of the internal damage often suffered by combat veterans and others with PTSD. In the author''s words, "I''ve had a story to tell from the moment I stepped back onto American soil in 1970 after serving in Vietnam for a year, but it took 50 years for that story to find the right words, and for those words to find their voice. My time in Vietnam ended in 1970, but I carried my experiences home with me like a heavy backpack full of unprocessed emotion. The ugliness of war was strapped to my back, and I carried the burden with me, unable to put it down." The real life stories told by the authors, along with the "After Action Review" with nine steps to healing provide practical tools for veterans and family members dealing with PTSD and transitions from military to civilian life.

Most people are familiar with the story of Samson, the only man to hold incredible strength in the Bible.Born to dedicate a life of service to the Lord, he was ordained by God to be a Nazarite and destined to judge and rule the Philistines. Similar to Samson, America was born to serve God. When settlers arrived, there were rules and requirements to follow, which were Gods rules and laws. Prayer was openly practiced, and Gods commandments were observed and became a part of ordinary life. But now were walking away from Jesus and doing things our own way. We are not growing or maturing spiritually, and we are making a rotten mess of our lives and of our nationjust like when Samson made a rotten mess of his life for God and his nation. Many pulpit speakers think that Samsons big sin or weakness was women, but the author argues it was really the sin of always thinking about himself. Its not too late to rediscover a godly life and save ourselves by studying and learning from the life of Samson.
