God came here to draw us near, but He went away so we could stay. It's the come and go of the Gospel. We celebrate Christmas (when Christ came) and Easter (when Christ went away), but we observe Advent and Lent, the two seasons prior to these two holidays, in an effort to remember that they are much more than mere holidays, they are holy days of the Christian faith.Stay is a 40-day excelLent journey through the Gospel of John, a devotional meant to guide the reader through the season of Lent. When we Seek Him First, Turn to Him, Abide in Him, and Yearn for His Return, we learn what it truly means to stay.Jesus came and He went, so we could come to Him and go tell others about Him.Stay is an invitation to not simply celebrate Easter as a holiday, but to hold it sacred as a holy day during the season of Lent, and every day of the year, by drawing near and staying close to the heart of the Father until He returns or calls us home. This world is not our home. Eternity awaits. The way to get there was made clear as Jesus made His way to, through, and out of this world, and He will make His way back again for all those who believe in Him!
Called is not about chasing. It's about following. It's not about going. It's about staying. It's not about us. It's about Him. It's not a "e;how to."e; It's a "e;who through."e; It doesn't say, "e;I can do this."e; It says, "e;He'll get me through this."e; It's not about shining bright. It's about reflecting His light. It's not about aiming to please. It's about pleasing the King. When these six little verbs take root in our heart, that's when we are able to start living set apart:need, be, see, know, grow, and sowThese six little verbs are stepping stones into the places God is calling each of us. Unique paths paved by the same six words"e;"e;paths that are both practical and purposeful. This Bible study is for the woman wanting more but tired of dream chasing and fear facing only to discover she's still rat racing. King Solomon in Ecclesiastes mentions this chasing after the wind, but in John, King Jesus reminds us that is all about abiding in Him. Called simplifies our role and magnifies His role in purposeful living. This Bible study is topical in nature but draws out timeless truths from the Old and New Testament to bridge the gap between truth and grace in our own hearts, equipping and empowering us to answer the call He has on each of our lives.
