God's intention is that His Ekklesia will re-present and communicate Christ to the world. When Paul says, "Christ in you," it is plural. It is the collective you that is the Ekklesia. You are indeed an individual, created in the image of God, saved as an individual, to be judged someday as an individual, but created, saved and called to be a part, a member of the Ekklesia.
Jesus came to bring a New Spiritual Order into the world that changed the whole nature of things. Jesus stands as the dividing of two systems, religion versus faith. The whole system of religion which had existed up to the time of His coming was set aside when He came. From that time, as He said, a new order was introduced. Join Dr. Ron Cottle as he guides you through an amazing and life changing study on the new spiritual order brought by Christ.
It is sometimes hard to believe that the powerful and sovereign God of the universe would limit His own power, but that is the remarkable truth taught plainly in Scripture. Therefore, He awaits our prayers, our declaration, and our participation. Mankind is the rightful owner-stewards of the earth. The deed of trust was delivered to us. God has the power, but not the authority to act alone in this earth, which He legally turned over to man as its lawful steward. Join Dr. Ron Cottle as he guides you through an amazing and life changing study on prayer and the sovereignty of God. Your prayers will never be the same again!
A third transformation is unfolding before our eyes: The Church is becoming The Ekklesia in this generation. In this ground breaking book Dr. Cottle proposes that the Church and the Ekklesia are not the same. The English word "church" has no relationship to the Greek New Testament word "Ekklesia." Nowhere in the study of the English word "church" do we find the word, Ekklesia. Why is this?
What if the Church understood its governing principles as being derived from a biblical Constitution, a blue-print for the organic union of those who make up the body of Christ? Dr. Ron Cottle says that such a Constitution of the Ekklesia does exist and is written for us in in the fourth chapter of Ephesians. In his unique and powerful manner, Dr. Cottle examines the explicit, unambiguous language that the wise master builder (Gk. architékton, 1 Cor. 3:10) of the Ekklesia uses in defining the foundational document of the Ekklesia. It is here, in these sixteen verses, that Paul communicates his revelation from the Lord, the manner by which the Church is to be governed under the headship of Jesus Christ.
Adjusting to a New World Missionaries must adjust to new cultures, learn languages, work as a team, maintain healthy relationships, and discern best ministry practices. Nothing can fully prepare a person for life as a missionary. However, for almost thirty years, Thomas Hale's On Being a Missionary has helped to equip cross-cultural workers to not only survive but thrive in their calling. This abridged version of On Being a Missionary remains practical and accessible. It addresses the new realities of the changing missionary force. It also looks at the challenges of bonding with a new culture in an increasingly globalized and technologically connected world. The book is written for everyone with an interest in missions, whether the missionary on the field or the supporter at home. It is written by learners for learners. Drawing from years of experience, the authors provide down-to-earth advice and perspective concerning the problems, struggles, and failures that missionaries often face. At the same time, this book exposes various myths related to missionary life. Find out why a generation of mission workers has benefited from On Being a Missionary.
Dr. Hale writes about being a missionary surgeon in the same delightful way James Herriot writes about being a Yorkshire veterinarian.
