Cristo, el mejor esposoThomas Vincent El escrito que tiene el lector en sus manos fue un sermón dirigido de manera particular a las mujeres, tomado del texto del Salmo 45:10-11: Escucha (oh, hija), y considera e inclina tu oÃdo; olvÃdate también de tu propio pueblo y de la casa de tu padre. Entonces el Rey deseará grandemente tu hermosura; pues Ãl es tu Señor, y adórale. Vincent tiene como propósito en este sermón convencer a las mujeres a que vengan a Cristo por la fe, o que acepten la invitación de Cristo a que sean Su esposa. Y lo hace presentando varios motivos por los cuales ellas deben venir, exponiendo esos grandes beneficios que el cristiano tiene al estar unido a Cristo como también aquellas implicaciones negativas de no estar unido a Cristo. Vincent muestra esto de la manera más sencilla y entendible posible, asà como de la manera más entrañable posible, haciendo que nuestro amor se vea suscitado a amar al Señor Jesucristo, quien es grande, rico, sabio, poderoso, bueno, hermoso y amoroso, siendo el mejor y más excelente pretendiente que alguien pudiera tener. Este sermón fue tan encantador, que posteriormente el gran evangelista George Whitefield lo predicó con varias modificación a una sociedad de mujeres jóvenes, en Fetter-Lane, en Londres.
