In the Bible, the Psalms are divided into five books. Book One describes the growth in life of a person who loves the Lord. Book Two shows us the situations we encounter after we have entered into the church life, represented by God's city. Book Three portrays the severe trials the church must go through to gain what is most precious-Christ Himself. Having passed through these trials, Book Four reveals the precious outcome: a testimony, borne by the church, of God's own person and life. The following volume is based on messages spoken by brother Titus Chu in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2009. Originally published in Chinese, this book was translated and lightly edited by a team of saints during the summer and fall of 2020. In these pages, readers will find hope on the other side of the devestation of the church. Here, God gains a testimony for Himself on the earth, and through this testimony, He reigns and blesses all. May these chapters inspire readers that God desires our cooperation to gain such a testimony on earth, and may we all be led to the psalmist's foretaste of God's kingdom upon the earth, a foretaste that causes us to cry "Hallelujah!" together to our God.
Every Jesus-lover naturally desires to serve the Lord. Everyone who consecrates themself to Him wants their life to matter in the sight of God. Dear Christian, such a life is a life of fighting-fighting against commonality, refusing to be common. To be common is constituted in us. This is why the church life can so easily become a social life to many saints. Zealous brothers become cool; good brothers become indifferent. Why? It is because they don't realize that what they are doing makes them common. The Lord Jesus said that the way of following Him was through a narrow gate and along a difficult way. In this book, brother Titus Chu acts as a watchman, sounding a warning alarm for twenty side ways that take us off the Lord'spath. Some of these side ways are because of issues within ourselves; some are because of issues between us and the Lord. Some of these side ways will be faced by those who are advancing in the Lord; some may surprise you in theirnormalcy and applicability to all believers. All of these side ways, however, serve only to take us away from the Lord's intention for our lives, making us common people. Through this book, gain the fighting attitude: "I refuse to just have my choice. I refuse to just live by what I think is right. I refuse to just do what others do." Instead, discover, or rediscover, the innate desire of divine life to develop healthily all the way to the end.
Elijah and Elisha were two of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament. Their lives included many extraordinary events, such as the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel. They also performed a number of notable miracles, including raising people from the dead, calling down fire from heaven, and dividing the waters of the Jordan. At the same time, we can see in their lives many ways in which the Lord worked with them, causing them to grow in their relationship with Him and training them for their service unto Him. Thus, while we may never have such dramatic experiences as they did, we can still draw from their lives many valuable lessons for our own Christian life and service. In this completely revised edition of Elijah & Elisha, Titus Chu considers these lessons and applies them for us today. From Chapter 1, "God's Purpose and Mankind's Failure" Elijah and Elisha were the greatest of God's prophets. Their experiences were profound, and their lives were meaningful. Most readers of the Bible don't expect to experience what they experienced. However, they are presented as people just like us-people who grew and developed until they became useful to God (James 5:17). If we cooperate with God to grow and develop as they did, we also shall live for God's testimony and become manifest for the fulfillment of His purpose. Chapter Titles Preface1. >Through such a one, God was able to establish His kingdom, gain the city He desired, and prepare the way for the building up of the temple, His dwelling place on the earth. What a marvelous story, and what an encouragement to us in our own Christian life and serving today! In David: After God's Heart , Titus Chu draws lessons for us today from the life of David, a King of Israel and the forebear of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He writes: These are the two things we should care about above everything else-our relationship with God and how we serve our generation. We should serve our generation according to God's heart. We should not merely care for our own things. Too many people either serve only themselves or serve their generation in a way that is not according to God's heart. Most people seek what is to their own benefit. Shouldn't we consider our livelihood? Yes, we should. Yet David gave himself to live for what God desired and trusted that God was able to take care of him. Today God is still looking for those who care about what He is seeking. As we serve our generation, God is looking to see if we care for what is on His heart. These two matters should regulate our lives. CHAPTER TITLES Preface 1. A Dark Background 2. God's Preparation: A Woman, Her Son, and a King 3. Saul: The Insufficiency of Religion 4. David's Approvedness: Chosen, Anointed, Trained, and Tested 5. Learning to Trust Only God 6. "Your Christian life is a matter of vision." What is your vision? What do you see? To most Christians, this matter usually seems very mystical. However, we may be surprised to hear that in the New Testament, visions are often related to practical matters. People see a vision, they change. People see a vision, they have a new pattern of living. People see a vision, they have a new beginning. In every vision are many revelations, each one able to strengthen the receivers, help them go on, and give them clear direction. In this first volume of his series, Visions and Revelations, Titus Chu considers the visions God gave surrounding the birth of Jesus and the beginning of His ministry. At that time, the age of Law was turning to the age of grace, and the visions God gave focused people on His Son and brought them into a realization of what He really desires. By considering the vision of famous characters like Joseph, Mary, Zacharias, the shepherds, the wise men, and John the Baptist, we too can see what they saw and experience what they experienced. Just as these characters were challenged and called, this volume of messages challenges us to leave our old ways, our old habits, and our old patterns, and calls us to be brought into something new and fresh of God's heart through visions and revelations.
