These four short plays, written in succession, make a bit of a point of documenting our human evolution out of modernity into the contemporary realm of communal reality. They would therefore be of interest mainly to those who find within themselves a developmental tendency in that direction.
This is a fairly serious play along classical lines, based not on ideas but on creative thought. The title refers to the significant difference between modern and contemporary life and the play creates bridges from the former to the latter. The language is straightforward English and the action by and large is symbolic.
These poems are gathered from three different groups that were written at different times during a one year period from July 2017 - December 2018. Those towards the end are composed in response to the needs of the day.
This is a comprehensive work, setting forth in detail how creative education can operate. Described and observed in practice are the skills of the educator of both children and adults. Emphasis is placed on human nature as inwardly original and outwardly communicable, and on the ability of the teacher to deal with the pupils' disabilities and inabilities as initially transferred to himself. Comparison is drawn with standard and artistic education.
Thirty-four sonnets, mostly rhymed, serially connected. This booklet is most suitable as a gift.
A story of adolescent growth through the horror of experience and the pain of desertion healed eventually due to a mature approach to life.
Poems on the theme of renunciation surrender and loss, drawn from a period of several year.
These essays were written over a period of several years and are not presented here in chronological order. They are research essays inasmuch as they break some new ground while they lean substantially on previous, larger works. The essay 'The Power of Purpose' was written as an exercise in response to an essay competition. The others were penned on the spur of the moment when there was need of extra clarity on some topic.
This poetry addresses itself to the changing visage of the past, specifically the 'modern' past two millennia, in terms of contemporary sensibility. The accent is on mystic perception and the meaning of it is transformational.
The education of children with regard to growth takes account of growth as necessary and unavoidable. We either cooperate with it creatively and thrive or we ignore and resist it and suffer dire consequences. A true teacher remains aware of this necessity in his pupils and he introduces them to their own ability to cooperate with it once they mature. This essay is therefore for those who believe they are able to be true teachers, and of course also for those who are unhappy with what they are presently offering their pupils.
These two essays, although they were written separately, not even in the same year, are thematically related, in that they both pertain to the resurrectional process. 'They' describes what we wish to come away from and 'Jesus Today' indicates to an extent how we can manage to make our way to our goal and look back. 'Jesus Today' was originally written in German.
Poems written during a time when unexpected changes occurred in the author's life - which is not to say that misfortune necessarily produces better poetry - except if courageously borne and then at least expressed from the remembering heart.
Conversation, when honestly cultivated, can lead to discoveries. When two or three of us get together in the spirit of truth, we may also find something out about ourselves that is worth knowing and sharing. And those who have a task in life really cannot afford to let their personality go stale.
A critique of society as environmentThere is the society that prepares us for community, but there is also the society that rejects community. In this essay we hope to make the difference more clear in terms of how we behave while we fear for our individuality when we might rise to the occasion of human-natural affinity. The emphasis is placed on our willingness to familiarize ourselves gradually more and more with the content of our desire for communal love in the face of a corporeality based on fear. - I dedicate this book to those who feel they are rejected by society and to those who have opted out of society, and finally to those who practice communal living based on their human-natural affinity and who therefore no longer have a quarrel with society. It is their struggle that is depicted in this book.
A series of one hundred contemporary poems of varying length written in 1980. A quotation from the twenty-fifth poem indicates the nature of the poems: "These are ... proud words / instilled by a harsh environment, / tailored for vexing times / to help see something through.
In an important sense this is a therapeutic book, in that it encourages us to face up to our existential fear while showing us how to go about fearing what needs to be feared, such as any notion at all that death has not been overcome for us. The story is of secondary importance.
Volume 4 of 4 (Book 3 of 3) Two creative young people pool their resources, concentrate on their spiritual development and exercise a remarkable influence on those around them.
Volumes 2 and 3 of 4 (Book 2 of 3) Two creative young people pool their resources, concentrate on their spiritual development and exercise a remarkable influence on those around them.
The spirit today is myth and myth is the spirit. Today is not a day that will one day be yesterday, but today is the day in which we live now, and we are live today, not extinct.World as mythology reveals its innermost secrets, and this is in fact the use of mythology, that it leads us, gently and persuasively, to the heart of that realm where everything that is wanted may be gained merely by asking for it. Also it teaches us how to ask, so that we do not waste time and energy asking for wind when we want power and asking for flame when we want warmth or heat.Far too many of us have made up our minds as to the means to happiness and we ask for those means instead of asking for happiness. So it matters a great deal how we prepare ourselves for the times ahead. The worst scenario is not to love and then not to know we are loved, because then we have no myth as nourishment and none to protect us. Myth nourishes, it repairs, sustains and increases, when we love nonetheless.
A story about a girl coming into her teens. My aim was not merely to entertain but also to stimulate reflection just a little. Certainly children want to grow up but they also need to be raised and for that reason I hope to have added an interest for the thoughtful parental adult.
We moderns are reluctant to accept that a truly creative motivation affectively underlies our various deplorable aggressions and depressions. This sums up our tragic predicament. It is as if a special dispensation were required before we understand reality as not based on appearances but on faith and good spirit. In the presence of those who do understand, we are more likely to catch on, because our depression and aggression rubs off on them and 'infects' them, whereupon they deal with this, rationally, within themselves, before dealing with us then, mercifully. Their ethical behaviour, by personal example and good works, instils in us a desire for moral integrity and ethical power. We gain a sense of, a taste for, the satisfaction from doing good. We become capable of sustaining that extra dimension to our being which corresponds to the foundation of reality. If we choose, we can allow our thought-processes to be schooled as we read this work, so that we may be cleansed of the modern evil that is criticism.
24 Short piano pieces, not very difficult but intricate, shapely, crafted. Really in a class of their own. Sheet music for piano. Should be fun to learn.
