William Richie Sorley (1855-1935) was a Scottish idealist philosopher who specialised in ethics. Originally published in 1919, this book gathers together the substance of three lay sermons delivered by Sorley in Cambridge during 1918 and 1919. The sermons all concern themselves with the religious aspects of reconstruction and renewal.
The Moral Life by W. R. Sorley was first published in 1911 and reissued as this third edition in 1920. The volume presents an account of the nature of goodness in humanity, taking the perspective that morality is a spirit manifested in life rather than a body of rules.
