Life is a journey where we gather experiences, discover the depths of love, and ultimately face the searing pain of parting - whether through death, overwhelming grief, or the surreal void left by those we've lost. The absence of a spouse, a partner, a child, once so present, now gone, creates a chasm we struggle to comprehend. The poems in this collection reflect the author's observations on the human condition, capturing the profound joy of love and the deep ache of loss that inevitably follows. While deeply personal, these poems are meant to resonate universally with anyone who has lived, loved, and grieved. They offer a mirror to life's highs and lows, holding moments of humour, joy, and sorrow, and ultimately honouring a life well lived.
Little Jigme is a Tibetan spaniel who lives in the Himalayas, which are the highest mountains in the world. His home is a Tibetan monastery, where he is looked after by the chief lama and the other monks. He is curious to know what snow is like higher up the mountain. He decides to leave the monastery one morning and set out on his own to find out. On the journey, he meets other friendly animals who help him on his way. As he gets higher, the mountain changes. Night begins to fall and it becomes colder. Little Jigme starts to feel frightened and very alone. Will there be anybody to help him? Should he carry on or turn back? He suddenly remembers that his name means 'brave' in the Tibetan language, and finds courage to carry on with his adventure. Has he made the right decision and does he return safely to the monastery?
