In this little book, I hope to shed a little light on the shadowy subject of, having a relationship with someone with Asperger's Syndrome. I won't advise anyone, warn anyone, or provide any contingency plans. My life with Rosa was fascinating. She dragged me kicking and screaming out of my past and into my present. I had issues before meeting her and she allowed me to work some of them out.Discovering Rosa was also a magical journey of self-discovery. It has been a privilege to know her and if I found the relationship difficult, it was because of us both. We both loved and we both wanted. And we both benefitted and suffered. I believe that any relationship with a lover, is a case of, 'it takes two to tango.' We grow and learn if we are wise. As a couple, we have run our race. Now we are friends and Bem's mums. I am still me and Rosa is still she, but after five years of separation, she is still by my side and I am still learning to be with her.

The book content is written straight from my memory, without research, because I developed it, used it, and had success with it. As a reference guide in tactical football, it covers why and how I developed a formula which assists managers tactically in play as well as in training, can be used by most ages to get their players playing as a team very quickly, and continuously, if fully taken up by the manager of any team he will find improvements in his team's performance and rating, very quickly. It also gives you a history of the games reasons or playing in team formations, i.e., 4 x 4 x 2 and so on. I have included tips and hints for the manager with a fast way of finding the location of them. There is a full description of players' skills requirements in each position, and help for the manager in case players drop off form, with formation diagrams, and all the information you need to use them. Football is a team game, individuals can win the game, but teams win the leagues. I mention this because my aim in writing this book was to share the creative knowledge and feeling I got managing using this formula. I feel if I had the formula when I started I could have gone further and faster in my managerial creativity, so anyone who has thought about becoming or improving his football managerial ability would do well to follow this formula, and create his own methods from the use of it.

From the beginning of lockdown in 2020, the online newsletter of Cupar Old Parish Church became a focus for the church's life. I offered to join the small team who prepared weekly Reflections for it in support of our minister Rev Jeff Martin. Jeff followed a study guide, We Take the Road by Walking by Brian McLaren in many of his weekly sermons during the first year of restrictions. I followed his lead with digressions to respond to what was happening at the time; for some Saints' Days, and to consider some Bible passages from the Common Lectionary.I have never been much of an original thinker, preferring to recycle other people's insights. I always kept a large notebook of snippets and ideas for sermons and have dipped liberally into it in preparing these articles. Unfortunately, I didn't always note where I had found these bits and pieces and apologise if I have failed to attribute any of my quotes to their authors.Above all, my prayer is that we might all find renewed joy and hope as we walk the road of Christian faith together following this time of acute pandemic.

Ever wonder what it's like to live in Qatar? Well M hadn't. He couldn't have even found it on a map... then found himself there. When M arrived in Qatar from London on his newly-minted expat assignment, he didn't expect to be confronted with life's most existential choices...so immediately. And he dragged his girlfriend-cum-wife too. "But I wanted to go to Singapore," she said. "We got at least half-way there!" From job offer, to eloping in Las Vegas (because living together out of wedlock is haram), to having a kid - and back again, "TIQ" is a humorous, if not slightly exaggerated, acerbic account of an amateur expat's trials and tribulations waaaay out of his depth in a country, frankly, he had never heard of. If you're about to move to Qatar, or if you ever thought you wanted to visit (you KNOW you want to), TIQ will help you frame (and perhaps even answer) some non-trivial questions such as: - What would you choose with your marginal dollar - beer, or bacon? - Is it OK to eat your lunch on the toilet? - Who's that scary voice on the radio every morning? and - Are traffic signs really just...guidelines? If you weren't planning on moving to Qatar, or even visiting - the shock, laughs and jaw-droppingly ridiculous happenstances might just even move the needle (albeit slightly). Way back when M got his Hebrew tattoo, his mom, like any good Jewish-American, said, "Well, now you'll never be able to go to the Middle East." M just scoffed and said, "Middle East? Me? Never." Who's laughing now? (And by the way: the answer is definitely never bacon.)

"And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants, 'Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate."The Bible, Luke Verses 20-32In the poignant biblical story from Luke 15:20-24, a wayward son returns, expecting judgment but is met with a father's unwavering love and celebration. Drawing inspiration from this tale of redemption, our narrative presents a modern spin on "Paradise Lost." While Milton's classic delves deep into understanding God's nature, this rendition strives to unravel the complexities of the Devil. Dive into a tale where boundaries blur, perceptions shift, and redemption might just be within grasp, even for the darkest of entities.
What did you want to be when you grew up? For a long time, I wanted to be a walking talking real life superhero. For over eight years, I pursued that vision of myself in trying to become a Police Officer. With each attempt at selection, and with each letter of decline, I grew hungrier and more determined to make it. It's answering the highest calling in serving my community, I said during my interview. The selflessness, the sacrifice, the unfathomable courage, and commitment to serve. Finally, I had my shot. My dream had been realised. In three years, I served as a role model, and a protector for my community. I faced everyday what so much of society should never have to see or be exposed to. This is my story, a raw, honest, and open account of life as a South Australian police officer, and the most profound three years of my life. Violence, foot chases, car chases, mental health, domestic violence, and all extremes of human nature. I discovered trying to live everyday as a superhero, can bring its own personal struggles and conflicts. I hope this serves to inspire others, who are considering and are already a part of this incredible career. It's my humble pleasure to share with you some of the greatest lessons I learnt, what I experienced, and the awe I was in everyday of the heroic actions of the men and women who uphold that blue bridge that separates society from falling into all out chaos.
