This is a book of sermons about several courageous women in the Bible, which I have identified from the Old and New Testament scriptures. I developed or created these sermons because of the bold example from my Mother, Elizabeth Murphy-Clayton. As a single parent, this courageous woman raised nine children: five sons and four daughters. Her five sons all served honorably in the United States Armed Forces. Furthermore, these sermons about female biblical characters reflect my mother's personality. While I created sermons about Deborah, Esther, Rahab, Ruth, and Hannah, as are five courageous women of the Old Testament, I also developed five homilies about five women in the New Testament. These brave women are (1) Mary, the Mother of Jesus; (2) Mary Magdalene; (3) Mary of Bethany; (4) Priscilla; and (5) Lydia in the New Testament. These sermons are essentially a male perspective about women who continue to serve as valuable and impeccable role models for how women today, especially African American women, can serve as courageous examples to achieve excellence in various fields of endeavor. The content provided here falls primarily into homiletic womanist studies, with some relevance to African-American philosophy, religion, cultural studies, etc.

Esther and David fell in love at a defense plant in Chicago during WWII. They were making engines for the B29 bombers.The problem was that Esther had a husband in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.The war ended and Bob came home. But there was a baby involved.Esther chose to leave her husband and have the baby with David, the man she loved. She was from Italian immigrants and had a large family who loved her. After the baby was born, they showered her with all the love they could give.David's family from southern Illinois adored the baby girl.David moved into Esther's family home and things went well for three years. Then David wanted to change jobs often and move to California and other places.Esther loved David and sacrificed so much for him but she did not want to leave her family and loved ones.They separated.Their daughter, Pattie Marie, was loved by her Italian family and her southern Illinois family. But as she grew up her life changed drastically.Pattie Marie never wanted anyone to call her "Esther's daughter".

I wrote this book based on a dream I had on October 19, 2011. My book I believe is a message to all of Gods children all over the world. God gave us all special gifts for us to use in life. Patience, respect, loyalty, and above all Love. However, it is for us to acknowledge these gifts given to us. It is also for to us to accept these gifts and to learn how to use them properly. I believe the turtles acknowledged the gifts given to them. They practiced having patience by waiting on each other to all arrive. The turtles demonstrated respect for one another by working together and keeping order in place. They showed loyalty by taking turns and making sure all got to safety. Last but not least they used their love for one another as the foundation of their plan. I believe if we all accept these gifts and apply them to our everyday life, we to can build that bridge and overcome the negative obstacles in our life ourselves.
