On ending up in a too familiar situation after years of emotional and physical pain, I began searching for answers as to why all these difficulties kept happening. I have always wanted to write children's books but I had never found the right moment, until the idea for The Christian Pirate popped into my head.I had only just moved into a new community and my family were invited to a local church. The church volunteers had organised a children's activity and dressed the children in pirates outfits. It was in that moment whilst watching the children embracing their roles that i thought, could there have ever been a Christian pirate?I also recognised that children need to be introduced to Jesus Christ in a subtle way and what better than to create a character that you would never consider to be a hero, but you could root for and in doing so, learn so much.It all seemed to make sense and I just hope it will make sense to all that choose to read this book.
