I was born and raised in Salem Indiana; I am certified adult peer support specialist to help recovering addicts and I have a bachelor's degree in ministry from the International School of Ministry.I have two children named Nikia Morgan and Jacob Howard. I had been lost all my life and the devil had lied to me trying to steal my soul by being in addiction for thirty-two years.I was paralyzed in drugs and fear and God inspired me and brought me out of darkness to his light. Poetry is a tool. It is a voice to be heard. There are formal poems of all styles, and they are part of a history of poetry. There is no protocol or "right way" to express poems. The door is open. Words need people. People need words. Poems become songs, slogans, works of art, and prayers. My poems come from the heart without much ado. I seldom edit or stress over them. They are spontaneous and written in the early morning when I relax, write and ponder life. They are an impression of feelings on many subjects spurred by my personal love of a world free from societal expectations, war, pain and suffering. These poems cover nature, love, family, introspection, protest, common journeys of all peoples and the possibility of peace and rebirth on this planet and beyond.I am particularly interested in working with young people who begin the creative world of marks on paper, scribblings, drawings and writings at a very young age. They are a voice to be heard. Storytelling and rhymes are symbolic language from early times passed by word of mouth through elders and succeeding generations. I have connected with small groups of poets in coffee shops, on the street corners, in fairs, in family gatherings, weddings, passings, all speaking poetry as they experience it. They are my second community, my poet friends whom I join in person or online. These poems are written between 2014 and 2023. Sweet Memories are a collection of my writings during the past fifteen years after retirement while living in Virginia Beach and Bettendorf. In both places I joined a writer's club. The Bettendorf group leader Dr. Margie Schwaninger is an outstanding writer, motivator, and leader. When we took a break this summer, she challenged us to look at our old writings and to put them to good use. This book results from my "looking at my old writings." I wrote about a variety of subjects. Some were about our culture, customs, work, travel, members of the family and friends who influenced my life and made significant contributions to the world at large, some general topics such as security alarms, railways, Amish and Mennonite and so on. I also copied some articles of interest from my book "Memoirs of Pastor A.C. Samuel." I have referred to my husband as Daddy, John and at other times as Dr. Thomas in some of these articles. These topics cover life in India and the United States of America.

This book in an unvarnished, and sometimes raw account of the author's battle with beating cancer....told in a humorous vein, it is designed to offer some humor and encouragement to those who are suffering with this horrible disease.
