This collection begins in a time of drought - of isolation, longing, and desperation in a land without rain. As monsoon season approaches, we shift into a time of too much rain, to a point where all becomes toxic and destructive. On the other side of the monsoon, the superbloom is finally able to take place. Superbloom focuses on recovery, rebirth, and allowing new, healthy forms of love to thrive.Makaela Smith's inaugural work, Superbloom, is a mesmerizing expedition into the emotional deserts that reside within us. Within the barren stretches of pain and heartbreak, Smith's verses emerge as vibrant oases, unexpectedly breathing life into the arid landscapes of our souls.Far beyond a mere collection of poetry, Superbloom is a daring journey through the untamed wilderness of the heart, guided by the evocative prose of Makaela Smith. Her words don't just speak; they resonate, linger, and profoundly touch the depths of the heart, etching an indelible mark on the reader's emotional terrain.

Metaphoria: Poems & Meditations by Gary Wood is a poignant collection of poetry that transports readers to another time, to the wilderness, and into the soul of an older man as he gazes back upon the intricate tapestry of his life. Wood's verses are a rich amalgamation of reflection, passion, and a yearning for understanding amidst the mysteries of existence. In the wilderness of his memories, this sage poet beckons us to wander alongside his restless and awe-struck self, who, like a fervent seeker, finds solace and inspiration in the grandeur of creation, yet grapples with the nagging unease of not uncovering absolute truths. Metaphoria is a profound exploration of the human experience, a journey through the labyrinth of an individual's life. With each line, Wood masterfully weaves the traditional trope of storytelling into a lyrical tapestry of existence lived, thoughts pondered, and love cherished. This collection encapsulates the essence of the human condition, inviting us to dwell in the reverie of a life's wisdom, to embrace the myriad emotions that have filled an older man's heart, and to celebrate the beauty of storytelling that transcends time and place.

The enchanting, sometimes jarring, figure of the coyote is explored in this dazzling anthology of poetry. Come with us as the coyote's dual nature and its reflection on powerful aspects of human existence dance in verse and prose. POETICS: Coyote displays this captivating energy in poetry that has been collected from around the world. It is a fascinating exploration of the human condition through the dynamic force of narrative power, manifesting the sensual, heartbreaking, tender experience of the poet with the coyote. In our semi-annual poetry journal, POETICS, it is our intention to fully realize the purpose of prose and verse through the lens of Aristotle's argument in support of figurative language and universal truths. With this use of language, we intend to collect written works from around the world, from diverse voices, and from a myriad of imaginations in order to gaze upon one theme through the lens of poetry.

Each year, since 1999, Bainbridge Island, WA celebrates National Poetry Month by collecting submissions from local poets. A panel of anonymous local poets jury the submissions. Selected entries are both posted in the windows of participating downtown shops throughout the month of April, concluding with a public reading by all the poets, along with the publishing of this anthology. Poetry Corners provides an opportunity to showcase local poets' incredible talent and immerse our community in the power of poetry.
