In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. (John 1:1-5 New Living Testament)All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful: The Lord God made them all. (Words: Cecil F. Alexander, pub.1848; Music: "Bright and Beautiful" by William H. Monk, 1887. Public Domain)
This anthology represents a selective literary collection of research and scholarship over fifty years of the author's professional career. At the time this manuscript was submitted to the publisher, America was experiencing an endemic in violent crime and mass shootings; death, destruction, and heartache over COVID-19; an increase in suicides among young people; a rise and proliferation of hate groups rooted in the philosophy of white supremacy; an increase in homelessness; and a loss of hope for far too many people! The reader of this manuscript will find a generalized discussion across various titles rooted in the results of human oppression in its various forms on the choices human beings make. But if readers draw anything of importance or significance from the manuscript, let it be to keep hope alive in a world gone mad!
The author was born in a small town in the Virginia mountains. His nine-year-old sister, Phyllis, died when he was two years old. While she lay in the living room in a casket, he was gently made to understand that she was gone and would never return to play with him. He was devastated and returned to his room crying as he lay down on the bed. Jesus appeared to him suspended in the air with his sister next to Him. Jesus asked him why he was crying, and said his sister was safe with Him. He told him to help his mother and not to cry anymore. He had trouble processing what Jesus had just said but would never forget His words, which would influence him the rest of his life and become a guide star to fulfill the purpose that the Almighty God had planned for him.Robert became a successful attorney and later graduated from seminary. His ability to understand the Bible, together with his legal analysis, clearly substantiate that he saw the risen Lord in all His glory who rose from the dead more than two thousand years ago! Robert's witness shows that the Bible is truly the Word of God and can be trusted. God has a plan for every person's life and desires that you turn to Him and fulfill the plan and purpose He has for your life!
God has big plans for your life. You are unique, handcrafted by God, and nobody knows this better than God Himself. But can you recognize the greatness in you? We truly limit God when we don't allow Him to take us through the infamous transformation process He's so known for. No matter what stage of life you are in, there is something God is working on in your life. Though we each differ in the things God needs to work out in our lives, one thing we all have in common is that God needs to take us from our "Egypt" into our "Promised Land." Leaving Egypt behind will help you leave behind past mistakes and hurts and a life you no longer want to live and embrace the promises of God so you can fulfill your God-given assignment.
This book is based on a true story about an infant who grew up without any parents (no mother or father); struggled throughout life; endured hardships, ups and downs, highs and lows; dealt with racism, discrimination, mental, verbal, and psychological abuse; functioned independently; graduated from college with a professional degree without owing a cent for financial aid; built a house from the ground up without owing a single cent; bought timeshare property; gave birth to two amazing children who both attended college. That orphan, that person, happens to be no other than myself! I did it because of persistence, perseverance, resilience, and a strong will to survive.
The reason I wrote this book is because I know God loves us, and no matter what turmoil we face in life, his love will always save us. All we have to do is have faith. I know that the devil wants us to stray from the essence of the Creator. I wrote this so people will know the difference between God's purpose for our salvation and the devil's wicked plot against us. God is a loving God, and he will never leave or forsake us. We need to get a better understanding of God's grace instead of falling victim to our own selfish ways. God bless!
A Child's Journey from Foster Care to AdoptionMy life tells the parable of a child who finds the ultimate adoption through being fostered. At the tender age of five, I was taken from the custody of my natural parents and turned over as a ward of the state. After years of searching for my identity, I was able to find it through my beautiful foster mother Jimmie. She showed me the way to an adoption that supersedes natural logic. Many that travel the road of foster care are lost and suffer from identity crisis. Unfortunately, some give up in their youth and commit suicide. Some remain lost and follow the same path as their biological parents. Others struggle until they come to a place of reckoning and die to their old life and morph into a beautiful butterfly. This is the journey to freedom I took in foster care. Unbeknownst to me, I traveled the same path as my biological mother. I came to the same fork in the road as she and had to decide whether to let the old man die or keep him alive. The decision was not easy, but it was doable. There were so many distractions and enticing worldly privileges that had to be denounced. My biological mother ran from her opportunity of new roots, but I decided to stick to mine. My new roots provided lessons and instructions that helped me become the improved woman and mother I am today. I have been adopted into a family larger than life itself, and I would have it no other way!

Some events in our lives can leave us feeling shattered, lost, doubtful, and scared. When going through these times in our lives, we can wonder how God can use them for His glory. How can God use abuse or the loss of a child? How can He use addiction or any of the other mistakes that haunt our past? When we look at the Bible, we don't see perfect people. We see people who struggled, who suffered, and who were lost. God used them in spite of that. There are countless powerful stories in the Bible where things seem to be irreparable, but God showed how amazing He is. God showed how powerful He is in the Bible and can do the same in your life. You have to be willing to allow Him access to the sometimes-painful areas. The areas we want to hide from Him are where God tends to do His best work. What was once something we were ashamed of, God can turn it around to impact people lost in the same situation. There is always hope regardless of the situation whether unexpected or a consequence of our actions or inaction.God can take something seen as broken and turn it into something beautiful that glorifies Him. We have to be willing to allow Him the ability and trust in Him to do so. Are you ready to see what God can do with the shattered pieces of your life?
When speaking of the spirit world, people in general tend to think of the deceased for whatever reason when speaking of spirits. Whenever the spirit world is mentioned, it hasn't anything to do with the deceased nor deceased loved ones.Scripture says in Ecclesiastes 9:5, "As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all!"Also 1 Corinthians 5:3 says, "Absent in body, but present in spirit with the Lord!"Then who are pretending to be spirits of the dead, masquerading as spirits of the deceased or deceased loved ones? Wicked spirits or demons? They are the angelic sons of God who joined Satan in rebellion against God.Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels or angelic sons of God fought against the dragon who fought back with his one-third of angels or angelic sons of God but was defeated and cast out of heaven, down to earth, never allowed to stay in heaven any longer. They are now on the earth, coexisting with us as spirit persons or demons.Demons are invisible wicked spirit persons sometimes called fallen angels, having superhuman power. The first to make himself one was Satan, the devil, who became the ruler of other angelic sons of God, who also made themselves demons.Though restrained from materializing, they still have great power and influence over the minds and lives of mankind, even having the ability to enter and possess humans and animals as well as to use inanimate things such as houses. These invisible, wicked spirit persons, known as demons, have the ability to enter humans and possess their bodies to dwell in as their own, and control individuals to perform their will and purposes, which is to harm, steal, kill, or destroy. Neither age nor gender are exceptions.World, demons are the culprits, pretending and masquerading to be spirits of the deceased or loved ones, to spread the sickness and advance the idea that the dead are still living on the earth!
For Zion's sake I will not keep silent; for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. (Isaiah 62:1)On the day that I cried out, you answered me and made me bold with strength in my soul. (Psalm 138:3)Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the answer. This is How I Survived Death (From Death to Freedom). This book is my living testimony of what a gracious God we serve and how he kept me and saved me from the taskmaster I served my entire life. I have gone through life as I call it riding the fence, but it doesn't work that way. You either have to be 100 percent all-in for Jesus or the devil. You cannot serve both. You either want to live life more abundantly or fall away to death with Satan. You are meant to live not die.I never truly know how much God loved me and what true grace was until I was totally set free and delivered from death, drugs, abusing myself, anger, pride, the root of bitterness, and lust. God came and gave me total repentance, forgiveness, deliverance from darkness, freedom from every chain of bondage the taskmaster Satan, and brought me into his kingdom. I have been set free. I found my mercy at the altar of Jesus's feet as I cried out to him. He had no hesitation. He cleaned me up as white as snow, setting me back on solid ground and showing me and loving me to feel the agape love I have never felt before. That's the kind of love you need to fill every void in your life and in my life--the best and most amazing feeling ever.I'm here to tell someone Jesus is the answer to every issue of life. He is the comforter, the deliverer, the waymaker. He is the salvation, healer, and protector. He is the way, the truth, and the life. And whoever the Son sets free is free indeed. Because you are my salvation I don't have to be afraid. I can call upon you, and you will save me.You have brought me out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke my chains of bondage. (Psalm 107:13)You have delivered me from darkness and brought me into your kingdom and your love. (Colossians 1:13)Total repentance plus total deliverance equals total freedom from the taskmaster. Freedom to live for my sweet king, Jesus, and all the praise and glory goes to God the Father for setting me free.
This work is an autobiographical synopsis of an immigrant whose diasporic decision came crucially at a time of tribulation and despair amidst the civil war in El Salvador. In the special chapter, you will find the compelling story of a shoeless child who lived in one of the country's most depressed, conflicting areas.Chapters 1 to 4 give you an account of the discovery of America. The ensuing genocidal obliteration of the Mesoamerican civilizations and indigenous cultures at the hands of the Spanish colonizers.Chapters 5 to 13 show a brief narrative of the evolution of El Salvador from a peaceful autochthonous Maya enclave to a fully independent nation.Chapters 14 to 16 present with mesmerizing accuracy a series of events that probably helped shape my appreciation of life. Instill in me greater consciousness of my mortality and, therefore, my future in the USA. All these traumatic events, no doubt, have given me a new sense of purpose in life.Chapters 17 to 22, I exposed different perceptions and analyses of life before and after in El Salvador and the United States.Chapter 23 vividly describes the events leading to my becoming a US citizen.Chapter 24 focused on the contradictory reverse cultural shock when I traveled to my native land. Finally, in chapter 25, I formulate my honest feelings of love and patriotism toward America, its institutions, its Constitution, its Flag, and my faith in its promising democratic, republican future.
This book began as a writer's journal dictating her story in real time that would become a guide to encourage both the widow and widower suffering loss. The author takes us on her journey of suffering and pain at the unexpected death of her husband. It reflects on the betrayal of life and the ability to trust her God while being still through it all. He shows up for her restoring the hope she thought was gone. He gives her the ability to prevail in victory when she thought she would lose it all. Hearing His still voice of instruction to wait on His timing and process introduced her to a whole different type of love from her champion through His mercy, wisdom, and grace. Papa God teaches her the true art of forgiveness that brings deliverance and healing back to her life. She overcame and didn't die as her mind told her she would. The author's references to God and the various roles--He and the Creator of all and the universe--that has taken in her life since the beginning of time is transparent in her writing as she takes you on her journey of faith, healing, gratitude, grief, loss, and surrender. Don't give up, my brother, my sister. Let God have the battles the enemy tells you that you can't win.

Jenny Borhen was an orphaned blind teenager when she found the support of a caring family. Later in life, as a master teacher in a school for the blind, Jenny read the book she wrote about the journey taken by her adoptive family to a prospective student. The journey began with brother and sister, Troy and Lisa Bates, after they experienced the tragic loss of their parents because of a fire. The siblings were faced with a decision to rebuild and remain on the homestead farm or embark on a cross-country journey. The journey from New Jersey to California in 1848 would prove to be a challenge and a rewarding life adventure. The siblings would learn to defend themselves, provide lifesaving assistance to other travelers, and experience the unexpected protection provided by Indians. The travelers explored the greatness and beauty of this country. They experienced the power of love and the wisdom of their parents and elders. The journey highlights how our country's history, laws, leadership, innovators, explorers, investors, and neighbors have all influenced its greatness. The westward journey resulted in a transformation of two young siblings to the degree that they ultimately had a positive impact on their local community, state, country, and young future leaders.
The words I have written, and have this opportunity to share with you, are from my journey through my walk of faith. They cover a wide variety of spiritual poems; many of which are personal in my life. My hope is you will find something encouraging and inspirational. I tried to give this book a flow from beginning to end. Starting from "Faith," "New Life" with Jesus through "Salvation," progressing through "Storms" of life, "God's Grace," "Future Hope" and ending with "Thoughts to Ponder." Other chapters may enlighten your journey of faith. I invite you in to read my journey and pray you make a discovery that will illuminate your walk with God. My desire is for On Wings of Poetry to touch hearts, dear readers. It is my joy to share with you these words and pray your heart will be touched. Thank you for sharing some of my walk with Jesus and God. As you read through these pages, be blessed in the reading. To God be the glory for all He has inspired me to put in this book. May His touch be on you in His own special way as you journey through life. In Christ's love, Nancy
I love to laugh! I also love to tell stories! For me, that's a risky combination. But more importantly, I want to help people to grow deeper in love with King Jesus.I firmly believe that the Creator fashioned us to laugh, smile, and sometimes even ROFL. I believe Jesus had a sense of humor. Just look at the funny things we see in His creation that make us giggle and smile. I like to imagine that He enjoyed more than His share of belly laughs with His disciples and audiences. I also know Jesus liked to tell stories--sometimes, long stories.I've taken some of my favorite true stories (with a few embellishments) that have made me laugh through the years and want to share them with you. I hope these might serve to help you spend some time with Jesus as you grin, chuckle, or maybe even snort your coffee through your nose. As you read, hopefully, you will be prompted to walk closer to the One who loves you most.Grab your coffee or tea and take a few minutes to hopefully laugh harder, love Jesus more intentionally, and live more devotedly for your Best Friend. Now enjoy some "Ha-Hallelujah!"
A Day at the Park is a priceless, heartwarming story of children at their neighborhood park that help one of their friends through hurt, pain, and humiliation by showing him unconditional love.

Can she find forgiveness and God's ultimate grace?Cancer also hits her between the eyes as she battles, prays, and fights for healing of this disease pounding its way through her body resulting from chemotherapy.Experience the prayer she says under her breath one night. This book reveals the dark and the light in this spiritual journey showing that it is never too late for any person to experience the life-changing effect God can have. Karen's hope is women can take comfort in knowing that it is never too late for love from reading Soft Is the Air I Breathe.
Inspired by the example of a spirit-centered life exhibited by the author's parents and elders in the family, this book serves as a testament to the lessons learned throughout the author's own life. She grew up in a multigenerational family within a small island village, where families resided for generations and coexisted harmoniously regardless of religion, caste, or social status. She received early education in a boarding school established by Christian missionaries, where education and the cultivation of values based on spirituality laid the foundation for embracing the world with an open mind.Wearing simple uniforms and refraining from the use of jewelry and makeup allowed each individual's personal beauty to shine without any extravagance. Simplicity and character were the jewels. The author's experiences across various settings will bear witness to this truth.
We often hear the phrase "once saved, always saved," which to some means that once a person is saved, he will always be saved, no matter what he does. Scripture does verify that when a person is born again and is truly saved, he has eternal security. But what is revealed in Scripture about this important issue must be properly understood. Misinterpretation of this important biblical concept can have dire consequences. This book will discuss many positive aspects of the "once saved, always saved" concept. However, it will also show that there is significant potential for misunderstanding and misusing this idea in ways that may be dangerous from a spiritual point of view. These dangers include erroneously thinking one is eternally saved when he is not even saved at all, making no effort to grow spiritually, and not working toward eternal rewards because one sees no reason to if he is already eternally secure. Topics such as what it means to truly be saved, at what time is one actually saved, the importance of being sure about one's salvation, the danger of turning the grace of God into licentiousness, and what happens with the carnal Christian will also be considered. This book will explore these issues from the point of view that if a person is saved, he will always be saved--but he must be truly saved to indeed have eternal security.
