Dan Rather of CBS News calls it "The Killing Fields of America," but little do they know about the dreams those kids had. Somehow I escaped the destruction these kids were about to get into, so I could tell my side of the story that ruined so many lives forever.I myself was blinded by the powers of darkness. We had a code and believed in death before dishonor. As I matured, I realized how there is no honor six feet under and how you're forgotten after a few decades behind bars, all because we lived by a code that was a lie.We tend to blame the man with the power to lock us up and throw away the key, but we forget who made a choice to follow that code that gave that man the power. As we sit in our cells wondering, "Why me? Why me?" I remember there is no honor in a lie. There is a way which seems right unto men, but at the end, it brings forth destruction. (Proverbs 16:25) There is an evil, which I have seen under the sun, and I lie heavily upon men. (Ecclesiastes 6:1) Nothing is truly learned until it is truly lived. (Deepak Chopra)
Celebrating Sixty-Plus Years of Being a Twin with My Special-Needs Brother was birthed by my desire to honor and celebrate my twin on our sixtieth birthday. For several weeks in April of 2020, our sixtieth birthday month, I posted short daily posts on Facebook, telling stories about my twin, Marvin, known as "Buddy." My sister, Dorothy, assisted me on this project. We received many comments encouraging us to write a book. Two years later, we had the manuscript ready for submission. This is the story of our family's journey with Buddy, who was brain damaged at birth and diagnosed with epilepsy at sixteen years of age. It's not a path we would have chosen for Buddy, and I've often wondered what life would have been like for us as twins if Buddy had not been a special-needs person. However, we would have missed out on so much had we not had our "Buddy." We want our story to give testimony to the fact that joy and contentment in life are not dependent upon circumstances. Rather, it is living life in service to others with an attitude of gratitude and opening our hearts to recognize the blessings, tangible or intangible, that the Lord has given us.
The Green and the Blue tells of life's fragile beauty, the gift of nature we are born into, the appreciation of the simple pleasures in life, and the inspiration it brings to those who embrace it.
A Bouquet of Flowers and Other Stories is about receiving God's love, loving yourself, and loving others. The early years of Asantewaa's life was a period of undivided attention and love from her father. Her parents separated when she was five years old. Her father remarried when Asantewaa was twelve, and her stepmother abused her emotionally. When Asantewaa reunited with her biological mother when she was sixteen, she was exploited by her mother. Asantewaa knew the unconditional love of her father and God. She persevered and excelled in life by studying the Bible and applying the principles to her life. Asantewaa encourages other women to be assertive and face life with divine boldness, intentional acts of kindness, and loving God. Asantewaa has also written and self-published Melting Pot: Ghanaian Cooking with a Twist, full of delicious recipes and nourishing wisdom from her native country, Ghana.
There are two sides to every coin. There usually are two sides to every story or differing exchange of ideas. Coin of Brokenness tells a story of brokenness, but it also points to the steps to healing. The before and after of brokenness is not always pretty, but there is a choice that will begin the healing process to a new sense of wholeness. Brokenness does not need to be a final chapter in your life's story. It can be the stepping stone to a whole new awareness of God and the power He enables to overcome the components of brokenness that every human being has encountered. God wants to rewrite your broken story to a whole new experience of grace. Embrace Him, and He will give you the positive side in place of the negative side to your Coin of Brokenness.
The Men Within is a collection of intimate thoughts, prayers, and letters that represent the struggles of the man, the good man, and the godly man that dwell within me and a sharing of insight into how they transition from one to another.I believe that we all have had situations when we have struggled between doing what is right or wrong, being generous or selfish, demonstrating initiative or procrastination, being caring or obtuse, and being forgiving or exacting punishment, even if one should dare to love. The struggle will always be there when such challenging issues arise to trouble us. The concern is not if the issue will get resolved, but which facet of a person will respond to resolve the issue at hand. Will it be the one that wants to fulfill the desires of the here and now, the one that wants to do the right thing for family, friends, and community, or the one that has the desire for every person to consider the decisions that affect life after this one? With the facets of an individual transitioning from one to another with troublesome issues of anger, disappointment, frustration, stress, pain, love, happiness, deception, and admiration, sometimes there is no resolve that the individual can arrive at other than taking those things back to the one who created all things, is in all things, and can reconcile all things.
How often do we get frustrated when someone wrongs us? Sin has a way of entering into our hearts in ways that we may or may not even notice. It is our job to be watchful of those instances. If we can acknowledge and identify those areas, we can be better equipped to stand firm in our faith and our fight against sin. This book dives into what sin is, why we sin, and how sin is effecting our daily living. Corey Meyers dive into both general and specific examples of how we justify our sins to the point where we may feel we are doing the right thing. We may have our own reasons for our actions in this physical world, but we must be aware that sin is still sin. We cannot make sin right. We cannot make sin an acceptable behavior. How can we know what sin is if we are never taught what is right and wrong? Reading the Bible and prayer are essential in our walk with Jesus. This book is by no means the ultimate truth but a guide to help in our understanding of sin and ways we can be mindful of paths we choose to take. There is no question that we are humans full of sin. There is no question that we live in a sinful world that is full of temptation and false truth. We must use Scripture to guide us. If we are not equipped in the spiritual truth, we will fall into temptation and sin.Sin can be defined as anything against God. Sin that is of human nature is our instinctive reactions that go against the Word of God. Sin that is of human intent is our willingness to serve something that is not God. This book contains questions that you may or may not be going through in this very moment, and I believe that alongside the Scriptures, this book can help you understand the sinful world we live in, as well as the sins that are growing in your heart.
Little Gilbert was a pig that lived on the farm, looking for a special gift to help the farmer out on the farm and to be gifted like other little animals, but the only thing that Little Gilbert can do was just lie in the mud all day while all the other little animals on the farm were doing their chores. Little Gilbert wanted to be like the other animals on the farm, but he did not have a special gift to help out on the farm. Sadly, Little Gilbert ran away from the farm into the wilderness, looking for that special gift. An old owl in the wilderness helped Little Gilbert find his special gift with the Lord's prayer. Then a bright light came over Little Gilbert, and the Holy Spirit gave him wisdom about his special gift. Little Gilbert was overjoyed by the Holy Spirit. He ran back to the farm and became a shepherd for the farmer over the animals.

Through this journey, he was determined to triumph over it all and overcome his hurdles and pitfalls that caused him so much trouble in the past.
"When the Queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord; she came to prove him with hard question." To know the name of the Lord is the most important and exciting thing.Abraham heard that God is the almighty God. Moses heard that God is the I Am, that I Am. Jacob seeks diligently for the name only to hear that the name is secret. And the same was said to Manoah. But to Mary; the reveal names was given. Jesus! "For he shall save his people from their sins."And last of all, to Paul, on the road to Damascus, when he asked, "Who art thou, Lord?" the Lord said, "I am Jesus."
This book is a chronological relating of the raising up of a prophet of God.Many of us have read the Holy Bible and learned of spiritual work done by various prophets of God throughout the history of man. We have read and learned that God raises up his prophets to know his Voice. This book relates how God has done that in these days with his prophet.Prophet Mark is not unlike other people. He endures the same physical and emotional things that others may encounter in their lives. The only difference is that Prophet Mark has been hearing from a Voice from where No Body could be seen. And has developed the faith that comes from hearing.God views this form of hearing from him as a bother to man's ability to enjoy life of their own choosing. And does not want to bother his children with this. However, God does have an occasional promise keeping need to speak with his children. And makes use of the prophets who he has raised up to faithfully know and heed his Voice to speak through.God has not changed. God is still with us.
He was a young warrior by the standards of his community. Even though Jarius had been recently knighted, he still struggled to understand why he was chosen to find the most holy of religious artifacts. This was clearly a mission that should have been assigned to the greatest Elvan warrior. He also understood that this was his destiny, a destiny that would require him to travel to an unknown land to find the ancient artifact known only as the Ray of Light. He had no idea what the Ray of Light looked like. He was only traveling with the faith that his God would reveal it to him in time to save his kingdom from the evil forces of Zel Camber. He knew he would have to find the Ray of Light and return before these evil forces could destroy the last elves on Namron Rae.His journey would take him to a strange land and force him to engage these people with the strangest surroundings and customs.
Good Idea, Bad Idea, Why? is a children's safety book that helps raise safety awareness to parents and children. It is very heartbreaking to hear about children being hurt or losing their lives over simple quick choices that were not thoroughly considered. This story helps mold safety consciousness with our children's everyday decision-making. The goal of this children's story is to open our children's mind to identifying and preventing potential accidents. The story of three children, James, Ari, and Aiden, playing a simple game of hide-and-seek at a residence on a beautiful summer day puts these children in situations where their ideas and actions need to be carefully thought through. However, the kids help explain and guide each other in avoiding putting themselves in harm's way. The bad ideas are corrected into good ideas as the children continue to enjoy themselves. As the children continue to play, the interest of safety grows on them while strengthening their instincts to recognize possible dangers.
I hope the readers of my story will benefit from seeing a glimpse of how growing up poor can mold a person, as well as facing challenges in life. Working hard may be new to the current generation, at least not most had it the way I did growing up. It takes hard work to succeed in life. Hard work is honorable and builds character. The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, "Whatsoever you do, do it heartily as unto the Lord." In 2 Thessalonians 3:10, it says, "If any man will not work, neither should he be allowed to eat."I also hope that when people have problems and hardships, they will have a positive attitude, that they will persevere and work through it and not give up. I believe that after reading this book, they will be more appreciative of what they have when seeing what life is like for the poor and that you don't have to stay poor. There are so many opportunities to be prosperous in this country if you set your mind to it and work for it. Also, pay as you go and stay out of debt as much as possible. Be honest when dealing with people. Also, try to pay your bills on time and do unto others as you'd have them do to you. Treat others as you would like them to treat you--with love and kindness. There is an old tale worth mentioning and pondering further that goes like this:Tale of Two WolvesA wise elder Cherokee told his grandson, "My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth."The boy thought about it and asked, "Grandfather, which wolf wins?"The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed."We all have this dichotomous struggle that occurs daily. Which wolf do you choose to feed? Can you open your heart and your personal belief system to practice the good? These are the things I learned along the way. I'm still learning, so keep me in your prayers, and I hope, with the Lord by your side, you will also learn to fly.
What does an insecure buzzard do when his father announces to his family that they will be moving to Birdtown? Are you so rich in joy? Leaps of Faith, Leaps for Joy is an impactful generational connection of an unstoppable joyous faith. The author gravitates our focus to a good understanding of unspeakable joy found between Deborah with Jael and Elizabeth with Mary. It is our obedience by faith that urges an advance to hope for all things and believes in all things. Experiencing unspeakable joy is a lifestyle of being jolly grateful resting in God's assurance. Joy must not be seasonal. Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ, makes a significant statement, addressing today's society. His prolific message "Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" has impacted generations before us and changes you and me to not only fuel our faith in joy, but also to elevate a genuine faith on fire to impact the next generation. The author challenges readers that joy doesn't know status but a determined heart willing to share gladness wherever they go. Joy must be contagious to everyone that comes in close proximity with us. We give the matter that we are wealthy with. Do you want to experience unspeakable joy? The joy that brings tears of peace whenever you embrace someone or pray over them? Unspeakable joy announces our presence, yet it cannot be contained for joy is immeasurable. Joy is a catalyst of courage, meant to be shared to the world to strengthen and comfort people in moments of need and despair. Get up and leap your faith with joyous leaps knowing nothing is impossible to God. If we can still exercise the air in our lungs, we must ever be hopeful in life's uncertainty. Why? We have great hope in Christ Jesus, who is the source of joy.
Since the start of time, man has been searching for ways to live a productive and meaningful life. Everyone goes through this thought process, either consciously or subconsciously. The key to finding that answer is to begin asking the right questions. A great starting point for asking the right questions is a question I asked myself thirty years ago. That question was, What are my core values, principles, or beliefs? In other words, what is truly important to me. I simplified that question to this--What do I believe? Going through answering that question led to the creation of my personal I Believe list. This was by far one of the most meaningful and life-changing experiences in my life. My only regret is I didn't ask that question till I was forty-four. Regardless of your age, asking the question (What do I believe?) and creating your personal I Believe list will be one of the most important questions and activities you can do to position yourself to living the productive and meaningful life we all long for.The Question: A Guide to Answering Life's Most Important Question shares my journey of answering that question and then how I used my responses to guide me on each day's adventure called life.
A little girl stares with amazement at the big city while she grasps her grandfather's hand...A little boy watches his grandmother struggle to collect firewood with only one good leg and an old chair for balance...A modern Cinderella story about a pretty young girl with childhood dreams and an innocent heart. A handsome young man with a drive for the wild side and a passion for living life to the fullest. Can two young lives so completely opposite of each other form a lasting relationship? This true love story is presented in its rawest, most unedited form through the memoirs of two individuals destined to meet and fall in love.*****I very much enjoyed this book. It takes you back to a time when America seemed a little less crazy, a little more pure. And yet at the heart of it is finding that lifelong love from the perspective of her and him. That love, as wholesome as apple pie, is not defined by time or era, making the book as relevant today as in the period it was written. A wonderful read.--MargieI could easily identify with the characters as I remembered my first date with my husband. It is truly love that brought them together in this story of faith, love, and passion.--Kathy ChappellWonderful book as I know the author. I loved reading about her and her husband's childhood and their relationship. Excellent read!--Connie Lucas
