From My Heart to Yours: A Message from the AuthorThe Purple Swan is based on a true story and is about a little boy named Patrick, who learns to see with his heart instead of his eyes. He learns this lesson when a black swan, which he at first ignores, mysteriously turns purple in a photograph. There are three key messages in The Purple Swan. First is that God has created each of us uniquely and beautifully. Second, we all need to see with our hearts, not our eyes, to recognize the beauty that God has placed in all of us and, finally, that God can answer our prayers in unexpected ways.In The Purple Swan, Patrick was given a second chance to correct his mistake. God is the God of second chances; however, He does expect us to learn from our mistakes. In The Purple Swan, we are reminded of God's unending love and forgiveness. This story is sure to touch the heart of every reader.Below is the actual picture of the purple swan. It is one of my special treasures and always will be. I trust that you will enjoy this story and learn to treasure it too. To God be the glory.

The Coffyn/Coffin Dynasty is a genealogical recapitulation of fifteen generations born in the United States. At first, I was going to title it The Coffin Saga Continues, but R. Gardner and Louis Coffin expired. I fell in love with a wonderful culmination of people belonging to my husband's family. I added the years before the stepping on US soil. There are millions more of people out there to be added. One can enjoy reading cover to cover about so many important individuals such as presidents, a Union Station president, aviators, college owners, and patented people besides farmers, teachers, doctors, etc. It is not the norm of "born and died" information.

Everyone has the right to question the world around us. How is faith formed without first asking questions? Why did a member of the Iraqi parliament say, "The Americans and the British came to teach you manners and respect, O sons of Muhammad?"How my journey began. Questioning everyone and myself. Learning explaining the contradictions and consequences of many known and unknown events.I touch upon things that others had spoken about, but it did not see the light. Believers and unbelievers for Muslims, Christians, and Jews, this book will take you to what you do not expect. It is not with you or against you--it is here to support you, to improve your life decisions.Join me on this adventure as I explore some of these questions and seek to find my path.It is our right, dear reader, to wonder, to question. I hope I can get your attention a little bit to read this book.

"Go home, you did enough."I looked at him as my adrenalin rose up. I spoke, "Oh no, that is not how this goes. We came to fight. You are going to fight from where you are, and I am going to fight on my knees over there. I will not leave you." He cried and turned away. I walked away.*****They took me in with him. I was his voice because he no longer had one. It felt so cold, strange, and eerily quiet in there. I had to sign his papers there in that place. I felt I was signing him off. Gut-wrenching--that is what that is.*****Before I could answer, he said, "Is he your brother, and is he homeless?"I smiled and said, "He's my friend, like a brother. He's homeless, and I do this because I love him."To that he said, "This is some kind of love."*****When life is on the line, each breath of life becomes very real. Options run out, and grasping for control is futile because when our time is up, it's up. We spend most of our lives wrestling with this reality.Life doesn't always play out the way we plan for it, and we really do a lot of planning, don't we?When that ugly thing shows up and takes our breath away, we are faced with a reality that is mind-bending and heart-wrenching. What are we to do? We get to choose. What will we do? Can we know before that unthinkable thing happens? It haunts us because it's daunting to the core. When dying is a real possibility, what should one expect? What does one hope for? What does one think about? I was about to find out. It's wasn't like in the movies. It was quiet. Time stood still, and our eyes did a lot of the talking. I recall saying, "I am not exactly sure what the doctor means, but I think I know." My hubby just shook his head yes as we looked at each other through FaceTime on our phones.I was getting tired. I couldn't feel my legs, but they were there because I had to touch them to believe it. My husband and my baby girls flashed through my mind. Our lives, our laughter, and our long talks and walks. This true story is a portrait of human frailty and the reality of this life filled with disruptions and interruptions beyond our control. It's daunting and filled with authentic fear replaced by unspeakable peace in the journey. It is filled with humor in the hard and trauma that shows up uninvited. It's a beautiful walk in the depths of agony and struggle colliding with an overcoming peace that paralyzes one's ability to reason. It's a journey, an adventure; it's chaotic and calm. It's worth sharing with a world that hands out the hard stuff. May you find this power-packed peace in the midst of the real hard stuff too.

Mercy and Grace Neighborhood Heroes is a story of servanthood at an early age. This story was inspired early one morning while praying and enjoying quiet time with my heavenly Father. It was written out of inspiration to show that children can volunteer and feel like they make a difference in the world. Both Mercy and Grace love to help in their community. Mercy loves to sing and has been told she has the voice of an angel. She uses her angelic voice to sing to the elderly in a local nursing home. Grace doesn't want anyone to go hungry. She volunteers by making and passing out sandwiches for the less fortunate. When the girls are faced with a struggle that would bring a halt to their service, they enlist two friends to help.Communities change through growth. This story shows how four friends put their heads together by enlisting the help and advice of the Father. They show the community how they can continue volunteering and how larger companies can change their image because of it.

And I will give you Pastors according to mine own heart who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. --Jeremiah 3:15 The most valuable asset to any church is its pastor. God has set each pastor in the church as it has pleased Him according to Ephesians 4:11. God uses these men and women of God to teach the saints of God about Himself, His ways, and how to live the life He has purposed for them. It is the pastor whom God has gifted and graced that touches, impacts, and influences the life of the believer on a continual and consistent basis over a spiritual lifetime. It is the pastor whom God uses to lead the church into fulfilling the plan and mission of God for that local body church that divides the army of God. Yet many believers rarely, if ever, pray for their pastor. If you love and thank God for your pastor, if you believe in the vision, mission, and work of your church, if you desire that God use your pastor and his ministry more greatly, then Praying for the Pastor and Our Church is a book just for you. Filled with scripture-saturated prayers, this book is purposed to stir believers to pray effectively for their pastor, church, and the mission God has given them corporately to do. We believe that you, your pastor, and your church will be tremendously blessed through this book.

Faith has concluded that COVID-19 is actually a monster whose plan is to take over the world. Faith is a curious little girl who, like other children, has so many questions related to COVID-19. However, the adults in Faith's life do not answer her questions, which leads her to rely on her own vivid imagination to explain why her environment has changed so drastically.Hiding from COVID-19? A Children's Story about Fighting Fear with Facts is a charming book that follows Faith's journey from feeling confused and fearful to being educated on the basic facts related to COVID-19 in simple terms for young children to understand. We should recognize the fact that not only have adults entered into a new reality caused by COVID-19 but also remember that our children's lives have been turned upside down. Therefore, we as adults have a responsibility to protect, love, and educate our children. Sharing Hiding from COVID-19? A Children's Story about Fighting Fear with Facts with our children will assist in teaching them ways to protect themselves from this illness and educate them on basic facts about COVID-19--all while being entertained by a fun story.

Life is a journey, and most people with the brightest lives began theirs on the darkest paths. Even though many tread uncertain paths, only a few who secure divine help can complete their journey. I don't know where you are on the road to victory, on the path to success, and the grand adventures of life's ups and downs. I have found that there's no mountain too high, valley too low, or destination too far for divine help--the help that I've enjoyed up until now. God is intentional in everything he does. Therefore I invite you on a journey through one of the darkest paths of my life. On my journey, I encountered peaks that caused me to stumble, valleys I had to fall on my knees and crawl through, mountains that God had to carry me over, and even rivers that tried to drown me. For it required the loss of so-called friends, relatives, and even my youngest child. But even after suffering great loss, there is tremendous victory. In truth, it is a path that could only be traveled by one--a narrow and uncertain terrain; a journey I am yet to complete. But as you tag along on this adventure, I have a question: Would you trust God even when you can't trace him? Do you even know what it means?

My book is about disappointment, love, pain, betrayal, and success. My dream was to finish high school in 1974 and go straight to college. I had a minor setback. My high school sweetheart was pregnant. I had a decision to make, either go to college or find a job. This was the most important decision I had to make in my life. But I chose to take care of my unborn child. I had to put college on hold. So at the age of eighteen, I married her. Eight years later, we were divorced. I was faced with another important decision: to raise my daughters without their mother. She gave me sole custody through the court. Now I had to take the role of both parents. I found love again in my third wife. There were struggles in raising six children. I had three failed businesses, which was heartbreaking, but I never gave up on business. I went back to college and graduated with an associate degree and a bachelor's degree in business and became successful. I overcame my failures from my first wife and worked on a successful marriage with my current wife. I refused to give up on life. God always walks beside me. The church is my greatest blessing. I also talk about incest, family members molesting my daughters. There were no male role models in my family.

God loves you. He wants you. And He has a plan for your life. When you feel broken and unusable, there is no better place to be than in the presence of the Lord. When all you have left is to cry out to Him, do it. When there is nowhere else to turn except to the pages of Scripture, do that too. When you feel you can no longer stand, but nothing in you wants to fall to your knees, do it anyway. Nothing takes Him by surprise, and God is more than capable of providing rescue in your time of need. If He chooses not to, trust that He will use your circumstances to help someone else in their broken time.I don't know what struggles you are going through right now. I don't know if you are surrounded by the pressures of life closing in on you, feeling all hope is lost. What I do know is that we all have our own stories, complete with broken pieces the Lord would love to repurpose. There is nothing you can go through that God is unaware of. There is nothing outside of His control.BROKEN BUT STILL USABLE is a compilation of personal testimonies as well as messages preached over my tenure as a student pastor. This is my life, my heart written down. My hope for you as a reader is to be encouraged and to know you are not alone. I desire for you to connect with my God stories and to be reminded of crucial biblical principles as they pertain to just some of Scripture's real-life accounts. At its core, this book is Gospel-driven, and I pray it points all who read it to Christ who is "the author and perfecter of our faith."

Life is hard. People search, sometimes their whole life, to find meaning and acceptance, but where can we find meaning and acceptance? These two things come from within. God can give you love, peace, joy, meaning, acceptance, and fulfillment. Unfortunately, many people never experience God's blessings. If we obey God and his commandments, he promises to bless us. Obedience is a process and a lifestyle that few people take advantage of. Disobedience causes heartache and pain. Just read the story of Jonah. Obedience is doing God's will, God's way, in God's timing.Jed Morehouse takes us through a six-step prayer challenge that can change your life. Living life on our own is hard. We need God's help! First, we have to be honest with God. Follow these six challenges, and see what God will do in your life.

I've spent a lot of time with children--resulting in many moments when I've had growing concerns.Yikes! What in the name of crazy do I do now?Sometimes I've had to live in survival mode. Anybody else know what I'm talking about?Over time, I discovered some tips and tricks here and there.Sometimes my mom life inspired me with ideas for the classroom and sometimes it was the other way around.Kids Are Worth It is about parenting and teaching children. My experiences in the classroom have helped to shape the way I see our most vulnerable little citizens. It makes sense to me that we should look to teachers for inspiration for raising our children outside the structured school setting.I'm hoping that what I've written can be a springboard for helping parents and others who have relationships with kiddos. My objective is not to present an exact formula but rather, share ideas with the expectation that adults will naturally personalize them for their child's unique personality and unique situations. All I really know is that with little rule testers, I needed all the help I could get while always looking for an end that resulted in healthy, self-confident, humble, and kind little souls. So let's always ask, "Are we doing what's best for the children?" because together, we can do more than merely survive. We can thrive! Our kids make this world of craziness worth it.Let the good times grow!

This is a story of one woman's journey through horrendous obstacles and terrible injustices. Broken Not Shattered reflects the molding of a true warrior of God.From the day she was born, Zara Banks was in a struggle for survival. After being exposed to abuse, neglect, rejection, and being bullied most of her life, Zara struggled to understand if she even had a purpose in this world. Once becoming a mother herself, Zara questioned why God would allow so many horrific things happen to her. How could she be the mother she knew she wanted to be, when the torment of her past continued to haunt her? Zara continued to face trails in her life that seemed to rival that of Job, but through every trial, she continued to fight for what she felt was right. Facing a millionaire that tried to take her only child, suffering the abuse of her past, and fighting her addictions, by never giving up, Zara became a stronger woman who overcame adversity worse than most of us can even imagine. In the end, she emerged from the flaming depths of hell that continued to surround her in life.Broken Not Shattered proves that you can come out of the darkness in this world much stronger, confident, and victorious. This heart-wrenching, detailed real-life story is a must read for social workers, educators, and all human service professionals. Zara represents our mothers, daughters, aunts, sisters, and neighbors. The unconditional love she reflects for God and her daughter, with her humility and capacity for forgiveness, is an inspiration for all women. (Kim Wasik, retired and still currently a licensed social worker, LMSW)I cannot express how much this book changed my life and exposed faith I never knew I had. Broken Not Shattered opened my eyes to realize that I was worth the fight. This book truly saved me from giving up and gave me the confidence to make changes, not only for myself but also for my children. I realized that if this woman could go through hell and come back, then I could too! (Laci Hall)

What do you do when the reality you've always known lays in shambles at your feet? The foundation you've built your life upon is just shifting sand instead of rock solid? That's where I found myself at fifty-seven years old...in bondage to the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. And I did the only thing I knew to do: trust the Lord Jesus Christ to walk with me through the death of all I thought was true to life and freedom. Rose of Grace is not only my story but also my process of how God brought me from an emotionally brokenhearted little girl to an emotionally healthy woman. Why? Why would I go public with such a shocking secret that my parents never even knew? One reason: to tell the TRUTH of how good Jesus Christ really is. If the world knew the TRUTH, we would be running and jumping over each other to get to Him! But instead, we believe the lies darkness tells us, and we run from Him and our true selves to hide in shame.Come explore with me the wonders of learning to live free in Jesus Christ. He's better than you ever dreamed. And His loving power to heal our ravaged hearts is beyond comprehension. You or someone you know may need to hear the good news!Jesus Christ is mighty to save!

Zara Banks struggled for years to find her purpose in life. After asking and seeking God to give her direction on how to overcome the tragedies and challenges she faced, Zara began to truly surrender everything to the King of kings. Forgiving those who had abused her, asking forgiveness, and repenting from her own sins, Zara began to realize what freedom really felt like. For a long time, Zara questioned why God would allow so much to happen to her, not fully understanding there is a real enemy who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. After a massive encounter with Holy Spirit in January of 2018, Zara was undeniably forever changed. She was instantly delivered from lifelong addictions, abuse, and wrong believing. Soon came a whirlwind of events, followed by miracles, signs, and wonders; those around Zara also saw what following Jesus Christ could do to a life that was once lost. From being blessed with a quarter-million-dollar home, paid in full, to miraculous healings, Zara began living a life straight out of the book of Acts. Realizing the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave now lived inside of her, Zara never looked back. Her heart was completely surrendered to the Lord, and her life was no longer her own. As blessings continued to pour down on Zara, her humility became the very force that allowed her to touch and influence so many others. What the enemy intended to use to destroy Zara became the very strength the Lord used to bring her to life. Zara was once Broken Not Shattered, but when she surrendered everything to the Creator of the Universe, she became Healed not broken!"The story of Zara continues to amaze me. Her life shows beautifully how God can and wants to use the broken. The way God grew Zara and held her hand through all the challenges she faced is an encouragement to all of us. This story is proof that to know God is to spend time with Him and seek Him. Zara is an inspiration that God truly does go after His one."--Anja Blatter

miracle (n.) An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. This is a word that gets tossed around a lot. The thing is, miracles do occur and occur often, if you are willing to look for them. God never turns away from us, even when it seems like our world is falling apart. He is always right there, helping us back up to our feet.God's love and faithfulness is what gave me the strength to move forward when I awoke in an ICU and was told my husband and oldest son had been killed.Miracles are what kept me treading water when I was briefed on the very slim chances my other two children would make a full recovery. The chances of my son's mere survival were nonexistent.I was unwilling to accept anything the doctors told me. I knew in my heart that God had us and my babies would be okay. I steadied my heart, set my jaw; I prayed, and I asked others to pray.God has taken care of us every single step of our journey and continues to today. Our story is not over. We survived, we are healing, we are pushing forward, we are living. We are waiting on the next miracle.

There were many encouragements to Ken during his five-year diary called Ken's Greatest Challenge, many heartfelt and inspirational messages from family, friends, coworkers, students, those who knew Ken, and those who knew about Ken.This guestbook is a collection of these messages that were all read by Ken. He appreciated these so much. I believe that these are what kept him so very positive and fighting for as long as he did.I thank you all from the depths of my heart as to what it did to encourage this very amazing man.

We were like the "Lafayette Escadrille" flying our aircraft with precision and cunning like the World War I volunteer pilots, scarves around our necks, looking for a chance to even the score for that day's fighting. Known as the "Purple Gang." those we supported knew that when the Purple Gang were on call, they would be protected and had the best chance to come back from their mission alive.Later in life, as we gathered as old pilots, at my home near Charlotte comparing our lives; we realized that we had more in common than we could ever have known. The hand of God was evident as we told our war stories and life stories. We laughed, we cried, and the love for each other was so evident that we vowed to repeat our reunion again within the next year or so. Little did we know that one of our own present that weekend would die that December, the first in our band of brothers to fall after all this time. All of us will miss you, John Houston; we called him "Howdy."
