Betty Kampen is a jewel from the crown of Holland! Here, Betty, the quintessential New Canadian, sets forth the familiar yet ever-new story--the memories of the immigrant and her family arriving in Canada in the 1950s, and to a rural setting at that. It is a bittersweet tale of a child in a strange school in a wintry land, of family life on an isolated farm, one without amenities; of the yearnings of a young girl to be off the farm and to leave the old Dutch ways, yet with the need to cling to and follow her faith; and of her courtship and married life as she starts her own family. Her desire for further schooling leads to nursing. Even then, heartbreak continues; her faith is tested by family tragedy. My neighbor Betty resides with her husband, Rudy, in an Orangeville condominium. Here we met, and I became acquainted with her life and activities--and her memoirs--as she was teaching me Dutch in my preparation for a conference in the Netherlands. Husband and wife are retired now but still reach out to others through hospital volunteer work, beautification through gardening, seasonal decorating in and around the condo, and involvement in their local Canadian Reformed Church.Kevin HarringtonRetired teacher-librarian, linguist, and geographer

With all the social, moral, and ethical turmoil in this country, what can Americans learn from George Washington that will help restore the values we hold so dear? In Finding Washington: Why America Needs to Rediscover the Virtues of Her Most Essential Founding Father, Richard Raines masterfully examines George Washington's life by retelling familiar stories and introducing stories most have never heard. Richard uses these historical accounts to identify virtues displayed by the first president and, through the use of humor, personal anecdotes, and social commentary, walks the reader through ways to revive these virtues in contemporary society. In Finding Washington you will discover¿ how Washington's biggest failure can help modern Americans,¿ how Washington's choice of clothing said more than words could ever say,¿ why Native Americans issued a prophecy about Washington,¿ why Washington's choice to race toward the British alone reveals the type of character needed in modern culture, and¿ how Washington stared down a would-be assassin and how his example of courage can inspire us.Finding Washington: Why America Needs to Rediscover the Virtues of Her Most Essential Founding Father is essential reading for those desiring to turn the rising tide of immorality in America and revive the virtues exhibited by George Washington. Readers will laugh, think, and be inspired as Richard invites you to join him and a growing chorus of like-minded people on this journey towards cultural change.

This is a children's picture book written for children ages three-plus. I also wrote the book for those children's parents. I had the entire family in mind when writing. This is a story about a family just like your own. My intentions are for everyone to enjoy this no matter your age. Somerset, Colorado, is one the most beautiful places in the world. Somerset is filled with all the silent prayers, hopes, and dreams of the people in the community. It's the place where prayers become reality. Somerset is the infamous coal mining town; some even call it the land of no return. In this town lives a beautiful a family. This family is the Wilson family. Six-year-old Myaa Wilson had it all. A loving father Joe Wilson, the coal miner, and a supporting mother Lilly-Ann, the homemaker. The Wilson's followed a very simple schedule every day. They would have breakfast together. Then Joe leaves for the mines. Lilly-Ann sends Myaa off to school and tends to the house until her loved ones return. Myaa and Lilly-Ann would clean up and prepare dinner while they wait for Joe. Until one night, Joe was out in the mines awfully late. Can Myaa and Lilly-Ann's prayers bring Joe home? Can Lilly-Ann hold her family together if Joe never returns?

Horace the Mole and Friends is a fable told in rich descriptive tones that will trigger laughter, tears, and hope. It is a touching story about a young boy who struggles to survive an abusive alcoholic dad and a host of medical problems to become a whole person, touched by a miracle, a hero in his own regard for his stance to do what is right in his heart: stand up for his mole friend.

The Bible doesn't merely suggest; it states very clearly that the invisible ways of God's working can be clearly seen. Really? What invisible things of God have you seen? My suspicion is more than you realize! It's not that your eyes can't see. The problem is your mind isn't open. Those who don't see God at work around them aren't blind. They are simply attributing what they see around them to other causes. They may profess themselves to be wise. God calls them fools. For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. (Romans 1:18-22) My prayer is that you won't be.

Faith Unleashed"Faith is a Fact and it is also an Act." These words would resonate from the mouth of my Father-In-Law Dr. Jonny Carter. He coined this phrase on multiple occasions when we would conversate. He was letting me know that Faith should be the foundation of our belief system. It is imperative that we have faith not only in God, but we need faith to achieve whatever we are attempting to achieve. The penmanship of this life changing read is to cause an explosion of the reader's faith. No faith means no promise, and without faith it is not only impossible to please God, but it leaves one in a state just accepting whatever comes. It was never designed that man would live without faith, but it is through faith that man is to walk in total dominion. This literary piece is a must read for all; especially for anyone who is wanting to achieve their goals, and their dreams. It is a must have to them who want to fulfil their destiny, and to walk in their purpose.
