If we set aside the halo of nobility that surrounds governments, and see them simply as another player in the economy, it's clear that they're distinguished by paying their way through extortion and inflation, the latter being what Murray Rothbard called legalized counterfeiting. By such disreputable means, they obtain substantial wealth and power, but are repeatedly involved in wars with rivals costing many lives. All these are the familiar hallmarks of organised crime. This gently humorous introduction to the possibility of a genuinely free society looks at government as it really should be seen, and goes on to show how governments have suborned and perverted education to persuade us of a quite fallacious need for the institution of government.

The Great Mogul Emperor Akbar who lived in the 15th Century was the first King who brought the idea of interfaith tolerance into Indian polity. He introduced debate crossing religious lines between Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Jains, Zoroastrians and Sikhs. He eased the sociopolitical tensions for non-Muslims by rescinding taxes on pilgrims who were living in Hindustan. His amazing transformation from a brutal warrior to a philosopher King offers transformative hope to all beings. His respect for the great Sufi Masters influenced his ideas so deeply that he became an architect of religiously shared spiritual principles. He believed that Sufis had an authentic approach to religious tolerance because they found wisdom through their experiences. Sufis did not blindly follow precepts that divided religious practitioners as they were somatically motivated to find truth in all directions of life and philosophy and for Akbar, this fact supported his vision of the Din-i-Illahi, the shared spiritual gatherings, that would bring his ideal forward for Peace with All.

All of us are interested in finding out more about ourselves and others. Our natural curiosity of the world applies to our role in it and how we respond to it. DISC is a behavioral model developed by Dr. William Marston in the 1920s intended to identify and categorize (even predict) how we respond to our environment and each other. The strength of the model rests not only in its ability to measure and categorize observable behaviors but also in its capacity to assist each of us to exercise more flexibility with a variety of people and situations. A key component of the book is the DISC 17(c) Self-Assessment, a simple 24-question instrument you can complete in a matter of minutes. The results of your assessment are easily determined, and narratives corresponding to your specific results are provided with fascinating and fun insights into how you perceive your environment and your role in it. Perception is an entertaining yet profound exploration into human connectivity leading to reduced tension and conflict, improved communications, and expanded influence and leadership.

Because their lifespan is so much shorter than our own, a life with dogs involves repeated lessons in mortality. But there are lessons in love and tender care as well. With them, we have to learn to live in the moment "because a dog doesn't spill regret throughout the house, doesn't lurk in a life of guilt and second-guessing." Victoria reflects on the lives of five dogs and how their need for the outdoors helped to create opportunities to repeatedly seize the day. A book for anyone who has ever loved a dog or needs a gift of uplift while grieving the loss of their companion pup.
