  • - An Applied Approach to Boardroom Governance of Cybersecurity
    av Lee Parrish
    641 - 1 474,-

Independent Directors of corporate boards understand the importance of cybersecurity as a business issue. Increased regulatory requirements, the onslaught of breaches, as well as the replacement of the corporate network perimeter with more third-party partnerships, have all contributed to cybersecurity rising to the top of enterprise risks. Yet, many Directors only receive a few brief cybersecurity updates during the year. Moreover, many Directors have devoted their careers to other important business disciplines and may not fully grasp the technical concepts of cybersecurity. The challenge is that many publications on board cybersecurity governance address the topic at such a high level that it removes the important context of the cybersecurity details - or covers the topic too deeply with hard-to-understand technical language. These resources may often provide lists of security questions for Directors to ask of their management team, but they do not provide the answers to the questions so that actionable oversight can be performed. What I wanted, and why you are probably reading this book summary, is a resource that delivers the questions to ask, but also the answers - and in a narrative, easy-to-understand style. An award-winning Chief Information Security Officer with over two decades of working with multiple Fortune 500 boards, Lee Parrish provides an example-laden vision to improve cybersecurity governance in the boardroom. Additionally, Lee deciphers the technical jargon to increase the reader's cyber fluency - not to make you a cyber expert, but to be able to ask direct questions, understand the answers provided, challenge strategies, and advise on important cyber decisions.Pick up your copy of The Shortest Hour: An Applied Approach to Boardroom Cybersecurity Governance today and start your journey on achieving more effective cybersecurity oversight.Want to learn more? Blockchain: The Key to the World of Cryptocurrencies. A word that sounds like a promise of wealth. But what exactly is Blockchain? Unfortunately, in most books, articles, and discussions, it is either explained in a way that's hard to understand or oversimplified with unnecessary emotional baggage, presented either technically or ideologically. Some see Blockchain as a savior from greedy bankers, while others view it as a tool for building cryptocurrencies that undermine central banks. Which image is closer to reality? The story of Blockchain is not just a tale of mathematical experiments. It's primarily a story of the age-old attempt to record human activities and the value that flows from them. This time, however, the goal is to make it accessible to everyone on equal terms. But will it truly be equal?

As the computers and other machines have been developed, researchers and scientists have worked very hard to increase their capacity to carry out a variety of jobs. Thus, computers' capabilities in terms of varied working areas, adaptable duties, processing speed, and smaller size are all increasing exponentially every day. We are currently competing to develop machines or computers that are as intelligent as people. Making a computer or piece of software think like a smart human being is what artificial intelligence (AI) is all about. AI is influenced by the study of the human brain, namely how people make decisions, learn, and respond when attempting to solve any problems. The findings of this study serve as the foundation for creating intelligent systems and software, or intelligent computing (IC). An IC system is capable of learning, reasoning, solving problems, perceiving, and using language. AI and other cutting-edge approaches that provide a system intelligence are used in IC systems. Virtually every branch of computer science has seen the use of intelligent computing, including networking, software engineering, gaming, natural language processing, computer vision, image processing, data science, robotics, expert systems, and security. Today, IC is also used to resolve a variety of complicated problems in many different fields, including disease prediction in medicine, crop productivity prediction in agriculture science, market growth prediction in economics, weather forecasting, etc. For all of these reasons, this book provides the most recent developments in AI as well as IC. In this perspective, the book contains the most recent research on machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, swarm intelligence, fuzzy systems, and other related topics.

The Itria Valley with its towns and landscape and the town of Alberobello are described from an architectural point of view. The second section describes the different examples of building constructions in local stone of the Itria Valley, focusing on ancient and contemporary quarries. In this part petrographic and physical mechanical characteristics of the main kind of limestones are reported and discussed. The third part focusses on the main examples of stone architecture of Itria Valley, distinguishing the historical rural buildings from the other historical civil ones. In this section particular attention is given to best practices of evaluation action, protection rules and restauration methods for stone heritage in Itria Valley and Alberobello. This book serves as a useful source of information to (economic) geologists, archaeologists, architects, historians and stone industry operators specifically, and to academic and non-academic communities, travellers, and tourism industry operators in general.
