For there to be dialogue each religion must accept that they have done wrong in the name of God; that often they have not been forces for good but for instability and hostility in the world. Dialogue is imperative, but it begins with a confession of what has gone wrong in both religions, a willingness to repent and a desire to engage each other in practical dialogue for the betterment of humankind. The book sets out an agenda for dialogue which is seen as dialogue "from below" as opposed to dialogue "from above." It starts with a response to situations at the community level and not in the cloistered halls of academia or with officialdom in both religions.
