Can a socially awkward single man who has had multiple failures with women still find a long-term relationship with a young woman late in his life?That is the question at the core of this novella. The main male character has "stirrings still" (as Samuel Beckett titled one of his works) for the opposite sex. He is senex (Latin for old) but still amans (amorous). He is the proverbial dirty old man.But is what he is doing socially and morally acceptable? It is a question the two main characters have to answer themselves.

A man well into retirement and growing old takes two sibling child vagrants he meets by chance at a local store into his home. Unbeknownst to the aging retiree the children are being targeted by a violent gang for revenge on the older brother's murder of one of their members in a schoolyard dispute in a nearby city. Now he must defend the children during a home invasion where he comes to terms with growing old, and finding purpose in his life again.
