Federico Grisone published Gli ordini di cavalcare (The Rules of Riding) in 1550, the first manual on manège riding, the ancestor of modern dressage. The Ordini codified a half-century of oral tradition of teaching this art and was a best seller and a welcome aid in educating noblemen at European courts in the art of the manège. Elizabeth Tobey and Federica Brunori Deigan have prepared the first modern edited English translation of the Ordini, which should interest Renaissance scholars and equestrians, and includes an introductory essay, a glossary of equestrian terms, and the transcription of the 1550 Italian first edition.Grisone's treatise and the riding masters trained at his riding academy in Naples, Italy, spread the practice of the art of manège riding to courts throughout Europe. Twenty-three Italian editions of the text were published between 1550 and 1620 and the treatise was translated into French, English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Many of the concepts Grisone discusses in his treatise--such as developing contact between horse and rider and collection in the horse--are still major tenets of modern dressage riding. The haute école or High School movements of classical dressage are still practiced today by such traditional academies such as the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria and the Cadre Noir in Saumur, France.

Desperate measures will be taken to hide criminal activity from the prying eyes of investigators as they attempt to pull back the veil on what happened that fateful night. Will the families succeed in their stonewalling, or can a man who sees other people's memories unlock the truth by peering through the eyes of victims?"Boston" Hollinger is part Jason Bourne, part Jack Reacher, and he's about to put his special skills to work. The Watchtower Thrillers can be read as stand-alone novels, however, readers may find more enjoyment of the story by reading the novels in the order they were written.People only show you the part of their persona they want you to see.A prestigious Northwestern Connecticut law school is rocked by a scandal when a female student accuses one of her male peers of a vicious rape at a party. When the media picks up the story, it ignites a national firestorm threatening that engulfs the two students' politically connected families. To avoid potential embarrassment, "Boston" Hollinger and Watchtower are brought in to assist the FBI and Connecticut State Police in determining the truth. What they uncover is far more than they bargained for.During a victim interview, Boston utilizes his gift of seeing memories to uncover what really happened to the girl - and nobody is prepared to accept what he learns. Not content to accept the narrative, he learns that the fathers are more interested in guarding their secrets than preserving their children's welfare. As the two men jealously guard their enterprises, Boston comes face-to-face with his nemesis - a man whose memories he can't see. When a pair of tragic deaths rock the investigation, the pressure on the team to cut their losses and return home becomes unbearable. Not content to simply follow orders and abandon the mission, Boston is faced with a choice that will change the trajectory of his life: leave their fathers' fate to an unreliable legal system or dispense justice by taking matters into his own hands. It's a decision that will bring him into the clutches of a dangerous foe intent on exposing him to the world.Buy your copy today! For updates on Mikael Carlson's new releases, sign up for his newsletter at mikaelcarlson.com.Watchtower Thrillers (in order): The Eyes of OthersThe Eyes of InnocentsThe Eyes of Victims

The present edition of Yogadarśana of Patañjali is the first ever work that includes Sanskrit Text of Patanjali, Vyāsa Bhāṣya, Bhoja Vṛtti, Roman Transliteration, and Scientific translation in English language according to Vyāsa Bhāṣya and Bhoja Vṛtti. In this work, it can be observed that in a brilliant, concise, and descriptive way, Patañjali used words to express one of the legacies of Yoga. After millennia, his singular work is still reverberating majestically. The term engineering can be understood as a set of technical and scientific knowledge that aims at its application and implementation so that a certain function or objective can be realized. Patañjali's work is a "Science of Psycho-engineering", because it is a methodology that leads to human liberation. Another fundamental factor of his work is perpetuity; only the Truth has this power of survival over time and space, as it sustains itself. The genius of Patañjali and his commentators lies in profoundly experienced wisdom, that is, not only words from intellectuality, but also by the real verification of the proposed path

Dawn Gorman sometimes wonders if she wasn't born, but hatched. Her cot, then childhood bed, were positioned in a small corner of her ornithologist father's study, known as 'the bird room': the epicentre of his lifelong obsession with birdwatching. But in spite of being immersed in this world of birds, Dawn resisted their appeal, and it was only when her father began his slow decline towards his death in 2020 that she started to hear them calling her. Too late to 'go birding' with him, this pamphlet has offered her a different way to collaborate with her father about those things of feather, flight and song - albeit posthumously on his part. Here she brings together some of the bird photographs he took during her childhood in the 1960s and a selection of her poems, to explore the impact of his birdwatching on her, on their relationship with each other, and on her own attitude to birds. Ultimately, though, this collaboration has at its heart not birds, but that other looked-for thing, love.
