In our rapidly changing world, climate change disputes are escalating at an alarming rate, presenting complex challenges that demand innovative solutions. Traditional dispute resolution methods have struggled to keep up with the scientific intricacies, diverse interests, and political complexities inherent in climate change disputes. This book examines the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to revolutionize dispute resolution in this critical arena. By leveraging AI's capabilities, we can pave the way for more effective and sustainable resolutions to one of the most pressing global challenges of our time. However, AI's involvement in creative fields brings its own set of profound questions. AI-generated artworks lack have ignited a pivotal debate surrounding human authorship in copyright law. Whether AI can produce 'original' works The Sara Silverman Lawsuit Against OpenAI further underlines the inconsistencies within this decision. This book delves into the intricate intersection of AI and intellectual property law, with a particular focus on AI's inability to secure copyright protection for works featuring "original" characters. As AI technology advances, it blurs the lines between human and machine-generated creative content. The current copyright framework predominantly recognizes human authors as the sole creators of original works, raising fundamental questions about the legal status and personhood of AI-generated characters and their creators. Drawing from legal precedents, ethical considerations, and AI's evolving capabilities, this book explores the challenges posed by AI-generated content to copyright law. It advocates for a re-evaluation of copyright principles to adapt to the changing landscape of creative expression in the digital age. Moreover, it addresses the wider implications of AI's inability to hold copyrights, including the potential impact on AI innovation and the need for alternative mechanisms to protect AI-generated works and their creators fairly and ethically. Readers are offered a comprehensive perspective on the transformative potential of AI in both climate change dispute resolution and copyright law.

Recognising that history repeats itself, in the field of peace it is easier and more frequent to see the transition from periods of tension to periods of apparent tranquillity. Thus, in times of escalating violence and extremism in human relations in society, in addition to international conflicts, we propose a reflection on the culture of peace from three perspectives moderated by education: a) moving from the myopic vision of peace to the culture of peace system; b) in the face of the new information revolution, analysing the duty to delimit freedom of communication by the indicators of the culture of peace; and c) the values of education in the context of the culture of peace as an instrument for containing the extremism stimulated by the new nationalisms. Furthermore, the time is ripe for reflection on the culture of peace system as proposed by the international community and systematised by the United Nations, from the declaration and programme on the Culture of Peace at the turn of the century to the current Agenda for Peace in line with the collective interest of progress for humanity through the pursuit of sustainable development with respect for human rights and inspired by permanent and lasting peace. The thoughtful reader should realise that this is a work for reflection on the culture of peace system developed to replace the culture of violence. It is therefore intended to be descriptive about the theoretical and scientific elements, but also critical and propositional about the process of changing social action that contributes to the built of awareness for a social life in lasting and permanent peace with full enjoyment of human rights and access to at least the primary social goods. Happy reading!

This book is about assessing the entrepreneurial finance opportunities for SMEs with a focus on financing mechanisms, market access constraints, and improvement strategies. The book specifically touches on the various finance opportunity mechanisms available to managers and owners o SMEs, the market access constraints associated with finance opportunity recognition, and the various strategies these owners and managers can use to their access to finance. In this book, the author argues that managers and owners of SMEs encounter constraints in the finance access process because they have weak finance access strategies. The author identifies various finance opportunity mechanisms including personal savings, partner/business angels, banks, traditional money lenders, government funding, trade credit, and mobile money loans. The author categorizes financial access constraints into two: supply-side constraints and demand-side constraints. Supply-side finance access constraints have to do with a lack of collateral or guarantors, inadequate financial records and accounts, information asymmetry, limited knowledge of business opportunities, high interest and other finance costs, inadequate technologies, poor credit experience or history, bureaucracy, a huge volume of work, a small amount of credit given, a long period of credit maturity, a line of business, and poor relationships. Demand-side finance access constraints have to do with lack of financial education and training, registration status, monetary policy, an inexperienced management team, legal status, distance to the source of credit, a poor business plan, fake documentation, loss aversion, and a low rate of return on capital. Owners and managers of SMEs can easily access credit from financial institutions by using good negotiation skills, maintaining strong relationships with financiers, having good understanding of the finance access process, getting good education and training, and building good finance opportunity skills and strong networking.

The relationship between CSR and earnings management has got vast attention among the researchers examining whether CSR signals an agency problem or ethical management. The extant literature provides mixed and inconsistent results supporting both agency problem and ethical management perspectives. Numerous scholarly works show that CSR may boost firm performance. However, it is not clear whether firms are strategically using CSR to improve their performance and also engaging in earnings management, and why only ethical managers show better CSR performance. Moreover, while organizations and professionals consider the type, size, timing, and purpose of earning management in deciding whether it is unethical practice, the existing literature focuses only on the size of earnings management. This study, borrowing a concept from a behavioral theory of the firm (BTOF), attempts to show a more refined model on the relationship between CSR and earnings management. Using data from a sample of S&P 1500 firms for the period covering 2010 through 2017, the current study documents pieces of evidence possessing significant contributions and implications for the BTOF, earnings management and CSR literature. First, motivated by the desire to improve subsequent performance and reclaim status quo, firms performing below aspiration level are more likely to show better CSR performance than firms performing above aspiration. Second, income-increasing earnings management is more likely to happen when the firm's performance falls below its aspiration in the prior period and income-decreasing earnings management is related to better performance relative to aspiration. Third, despite the finding that firms performing below aspiration are more likely to show better CSR performance than above aspiration performers, subsequent tests do not provide evidence that CSR performance is related to agency problem or ethical management. However, the findings indicate that firms' desire to engage in CSR may emanate from its contribution in building firms' image and reputation, and subsequently improving performance and productivity rather than just hiding earnings management or serving the society.

In order to have an impact on the labor market, welfare states must implement active labor market policies (ALMPs). The effectiveness of ALMPs has only been the subject of a few numbers of studies, the majority of which only take into account the short-term effects of ALMPs and use aggregate data. We examine the impact of public spending on female and male unemployment rates by disaggregating data on unemployment for nine OECD countries and focusing on long-term effects of ALMPs, primarily to determine whether there is evidence of causation between the variables. Based on the bootstrap panel Granger causality test, the estimates account for cross-sectional dependence, slope heterogeneity, and structural breaks. Although the causality direction varies by country, our study demonstrates that ALMPs are helpful at lowering unemployment. It's interesting to notice that these policies appear to have the most positive effects for women. Policymakers must provide appropriate support for ALMPs in order to effectively lower unemployment.

The Manifest Destiny induced American Indian Wars enabled the United States to carve out the 48 contiguous states plus two detached states Hawaii and Alaska, which gave birth to an imperial nation. President George Washington described the historic birth of an American imperialism as an "infant empire". A decisive U.S. victory in the 1898 American-Spanish War not only culminated the Spanish rule in the Americas, but resulted in U.S. acquisition of new territories in the western Pacific and Latin America such as Puerto Rico, Philippines, and Guam. With the Monroe Doctrine, expansionism through annexation, subjugation, or military intervention became a U.S. tradition. The Great Wars turned the U.S. into a global power, the 1944 Bretton Woods accepted the dollar hegemony, and the Truman Doctrine (which instigated the Cold War era to contain the Soviet influence) made the United States become a true superpower or only hyperpower in the world. President Nixon's visit to China in 1972 had the objective of ending years of diplomatic isolation, settling the Taiwan question, counterbalancing the power of the Soviet Union, and opening up China to trade. Over four decades since Nixon's visit, China has become monstrous economically and militarily, and overly agitated by this the United States government has turned to mob-like strategies to curb China's rise, such as abuse of sanction power, weaponization of the dollar, and even US-China 'decoupling', but experts are not sure if this will work without significant negative global repercussions as the Cold War did to contain the Soviet influence and the spread of communism. While American imperialism and the dollar's hegemony have been diminishing, the factors that contributed to that aided China's remarkable rise. However, its ambitious growth plans have turned China into an environmental hazard to the world's scarce and finite natural resources. Many are sceptic that China will become a superpower with the autocrat CCP and its willful disregard for the environment.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon fiber composites (CFC) have been studied as a reinforcement material for cementitious composites, with promising results. Incorporating CNTs into cement-based materials enhances the composites' mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties, as cementitious materials have limited applications due to their strain capacity and less tensile strength. CNTs have high tensile strength and modulus, along with excellent electrical conductivity. These features make them ideal for construction materials. Using CNTs and CFCs in cement-based composites can improve the durability and sustainability of construction materials and provide new opportunities for advanced applications in the construction industry. The addition of CNTs to cement-based materials can improve mechanical performance, improve fire resistance and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The incorporation of CNTs and CFCs in cementitious composites is a promising area of research with significant potential for use in the construction industry. The current study's findings are expected to provide insight into the new material and its glamorous scopes for application as construction materials.
