Textbook Gods offers perspectives on representations of religion and religions in textbooks. The contributions emerge from different contexts, ranging from European countries, to North America, Japan and Australia.

Wellbeing can be described in purely secular terms, but a spiritual perspective on Wellbeing adds considerable depth and scope, distinguishing it from superficial or momentary happiness. Wellbeing in spiritual terms reaches out beyond the individual towards relationship which can embrace both interpersonal relationships and relationship with the natural world. In order to accommodate the spiritual dimension we offer the term 'Well-becoming', with a focus on the past and the present as they develop into the future, and thus generate an evolutionary perspective. We suggest that in our times the scientific paradigm itself needs to expand and evolve in order to embrace the subjective/emotional and intuitive/spiritual modes of awareness. Otherwise we are left isolated, with all that matters most, humanly, on one side, and the scientific/technological perspective divorced from humane values on the other, and threatening to dominate. Nowhere is this more evident than in the environmental crisis where human beings enact upon the planet and ourselves the adverse results of a progressive alienation from our physical and spiritual natures, and thereby from our relationship with the natural world. We look to psychotherapeutic understandings and eco-social interventions into wellbeing and well-becoming to lead us forward from this tragic predicament. The book benefits greatly by including rich cross-cultural comparisons from a Brazilian context.

Graham Harvey's work--from his early publications on British Pagans, his pioneering work on New Animism to most recently the everyday relational model of religion presented in Food, Sex and Strangers--has had an impact on fields as diverse as environmentalism, ritual, indigenous religion, folklore, and beyond academia. Yet there is a clear through-line, as this volume suggests, a concern with personhood, communication and community which bridges the lived religion approach with emerging network- and rhizome-based theoretical models. Volume 2 builds on the foundation developed in Volume 1, focussing on theoretically guided modelling of language in computational linguistic systems and on key aspects of the theory such as metafunction, rank (the conception of "morphology"), indeterminacy and probability. This volume also includes a treatment of systemic functional meta-theory - the theory of the nature and appliability of theory. The new chapter written for Volume 2 extends the discussion of the challenge of theorizing language to the challenge of modelling language for neurosemiotics, thus paying attention to the appliability of systemic functional linguistics.

This is the first edited, annotated collection of the writings of Allan Bennett, one of the first British men to gain higher ordination as a Buddhist monk and one of the seminal figures in the development of Buddhism in the UK. Bennett's view of Buddhism reflects the intellectual history of his day and the debates that were happening between different religious groups in late Victorian and early Edwardian imperial Britain. His work represents some of the first writings by English converts to Buddhism and mobilized both British Buddhists and sympathizers. Controversy has surrounded his life, particularly in western Buddhist circles, because of his early involvement with the occult. His writings included two published Volumes. The first recorded a series of talks he gave in London in 1917-1918, published just two months before he died, The Wisdom of the Aryas. The second was published posthumously, The Religion of Burma and Other Papers. Both of these are included in this volume as well as excerpts from his esoteric notebooks, essays published in the journal he established Buddhism - An Illustrated Quarterly Review, the prospectus of the International Buddhist Society (Buddhasasana Samagama) he founded, and excerpts from his letters and lectures as well as other publications.
