Inspirational wisdom by Dr. Daniel DeGoede from his lifetime experience as a therapist. His books in Belief Therapy teach and inspire people to grow and change. To understand Belief Therapy, it is necessary to understand that the primary, most revolutionary and perhaps remarkable tenet of Belief Therapy is also its most simple. It is that: there is nothing wrong with us. We are already OK. There is nothing to fix and there never was. Oddly enough, it is often our attempts to fix ourselves that leads to our dis-ease.

Belief Therapy Volume I Revision One: A Guide to Enhancing Everyday Life shines light on how to become aware of our conscious and unconscious beliefs. We can be free from these limiting ideas and create our lives, as we choose, in the present. Freud said, "the unconscious must become conscious." In this he was right, we cannot change that of which we are unaware. Choice and freedom come through awareness. Without awareness, we are destined to repeat the same self-defeating behaviors and experience the negative emotions created by forgotten, irrational beliefs. Our first beliefs developed in early childhood. Hence, why they have such a powerful effect on our lives. It is just these beliefs that are likely to be unconscious, unexamined, and irrational. As children, we accept these beliefs as truths, and then feel and act accordingly. If our childhood beliefs or ideas are not examined, they become a basis for our adult experience. The beliefs confirm limiting attitudes we hold about ourselves, strengthening them in our everyday life.

Belief Therapy Volume II: Finding Freedom in Everyday Life exposes a simple thought process to enhance our lives: there is nothing wrong with us. We are already okay, there is nothing to fix, there never was. It is that simple. Oddly enough, it is often the attempts to fix ourselves that lead to our dis-ease. The "problem" is the belief in brokenness. The compulsive self-destructive behavior creates "evidence" of brokenness, continuing the self-fulfilling prophecy of desperation and limitation. Once the belief in our brokenness takes hold, our options become limited. We either attempt to fix what was never broken, or we give up trying thusly, accepting the belief in our brokenness. Subsequently, causing the limiting destructive patterns. By adopting the tenants of Belief Therapy and recognizing our inherent and pre-existing "goodness," we lose these limiting compulsive behaviors and recognize our freedom to choose a life of quality.
