In your hardest moments did they decide their own safety and lies were more important to protect than telling the truth? Or maybe the accusations are true and for the sake of family or career you feel like you have to bury what happened.Whether you were injured or caused injury, there is hope. How you choose to work through this season of life will determine your recovery toward health and effectiveness. You have choices. If you are broken and bruised, burned and betrayed, this confidential community of women Mending on Mission is for you. Having been a Christian most of my life led me to the thoughts put forth in this whimsical book for juveniles. The thought of all that is going wrong on planet Earth it is imaginable that God has his hands full taking care of the BIG problems. Thus his decision to rid himself of some of his duties led to this book. Having made that decision his intent is also to teach kids a lesson that will be instilled in them for the rest of their lives.

My name is Jerry Gietka. I have had different careers. Anything from driving a truck to writing law to teaching at the University. What can I say, I get bored quickly. Currently, I am a writer.I had a career managing in the Transportation industry. I finally got tired of being shot at, so I went to work for the State of MD and the feds. I traveled the country training Police agencies in the proper enforcement of the regulationsregarding the transport of Hazardous Materials. At least these people were supposed to be carrying guns.In my state service, I started out as a Program Manager for the MD Department of the Environment before being reassigned. Among other things, I drafted both regulatory and statutory language that was incorporated into the MD Code.I designed and taught a graduate level course in Environmental Management at UMUC, now UMGC. I taught in the classroom for several years. Then I redesigned the course for on-line delivery in their distance learning program.I have been on stage, film, radio, and television, as an actor and director. I won a Telly award for a cable TV talk show designed for BAL CITY public access. All together I have been in about 100 shows, probably over 1,000 performances.I have a broad and unique perspective, having had experience in the private and public sectors as well as academia. I can usually speak knowledgably on most subjects, using the appropriate nomenclature for each subject matter(technical, computers, legal). Hopefully, that is a factor of exposure and not necessarily age.I retired in 2003, when my sister, Bernadette, won the Mega Millions lottery for $183 million. I thought my life had been interesting to that point. Well, let me tell you ...
What We Remember is the story of some memories as Raleigh made the transformation from a quiet capital city to a significant cultural and governmental center. The beginning of the story is from the perspective of a native son who made his first public appearance as the "Red Feather Boy" marking the success of fund raising for Community Chest through his career as a member of the city council, mayor, and businessman.Smedes York and his family were at the center of the transformation of the city in those vibrant days after the end of World War II when returning soldiers were seeking homes for their families, and businesses were looking for new locations. In response to those demands for housing as well as shopping and business, Smedes's father James Wesley "Willie" York and his father Charles Vance York left evidence of their building and development skills throughout the city and the state.Raleigh: What We Remember attempts to broaden the scope to view the growth and changes in the city as seen from the perspective of Smedes and others who have experienced this transformation.
