The three chapters of this book have their origin in a series of lectures on certain aspects of Calvin's theology, delivered by John Murray, professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. To many the name of John Calvin brings to mind a religious despot whose teachings give a distorted version of the biblical God. That idea and image could be nothing further from the truth. For much of his life, Pascal (1623-62) worked on a magnum opus which was never published in the form the philosopher intended. Instead, Pascal left a mass of fragments, some of them meant as notes for the Apologie.
