The Captain of a 30ft sailboat finds himself finds himself adrift without the ability to steer his boat 1000 miles from Hawaii in the largest ocean on the planet. These journals document his thoughts and emotions during this remarkable voyage.
Six Nights on the Hook at Santa Cruz Island is a collection of journals and photographs from James Frederick about his first solo sailing trip to Santa Cruz Island. Frederick purchased his 1965 Alberg 30 sailboat, SV TRITEIA and got straight to work getting her sea worthy again. This book shares the authors frustrations, triumphs, fears and stillness as he explores the largest island in Southern California’s Channel Islands National Park one anchorage at a time slowly making his way completely around Santa Cruz. Frederick documents all of his sailing adventures on a weekly video series on YouTube giving the readers of this book a chance to see and hear the adventures described in the journals. James Frederick and his wife Camille plan to start their slow circumnavigation in the spring of 2020 and will continue posting their adventures on YouTube and writing books about the places they visit and passages they make.
