Diana Inquest: The French Cover-Up is the gripping story of how a culture of corruption and cover-up was endemic throughout the investigation into the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed. This is the third volume of a four-part series on the 2008 inquest into the 1997 deaths in Paris. It tracks the French investigation right from the initial minutes after the crash inside the Alma Tunnel through to the conclusion of the investigation by Judge Stephan two years later, in September 1999. The culture of cover-up that surrounded the early investigations into the crash is revealed in striking detail - for example, the thorough cleansing of the crash scene within several hours of the crash. The French Cover-Up includes explosive new evidence and documents from within the British police investigation - evidence that has never previously been revealed to the British or international public. Using witness and documentary evidence - including what was heard during the 2008 inquest into the deaths - this volume also reveals that Henri Paul, the driver of the Mercedes S280, was not drunk. A thorough analysis of the evidence shows very clearly that the driver's autopsy test results were actually taken from blood samples that belonged to a different body. Diana Inquest opens up the reader's understanding to the incredible lengths that the French authorities went to - to frame a dead, defenceless, sober and innocent driver for the deaths of Diana and Dodi, within hours of the crash occurring. This book reveals the major difficulties faced by the inquest jury - showing how substantial portions of the most critical witness and documentary evidence were withheld from their eyes and ears. When it comes to the autopsies of Henri Paul, not only did the jury not hear from the two most important witnesses - Professor Dominique Lecomte (who conducted the first autopsy) and Dr Gilbert Pepin (who conducted the blood testing) - but also their police statements were not read out, even though inquest coroner Scott Baker had them in his possession. It is from this impossible position that the jury were expected to make meaningful deliberations to arrive at an informed verdict. Diana Inquest shows that the culture of corruption and cover-up did not just relate to the French investigation, but carried through to the British Paget inquiry and finally also to the conduct of the 2008 British inquest. This eventually resulted in a seriously flawed verdict in one of the most important jury inquests of our modern era.

  • - The British Cover-up
    av John Morgan
    287,-

The explosive evidence in "Diana Inquest: The British Cover-Up," the final title in a four-volume series, blows the lid on the events that took place in the 24 hours following the death of Princess Diana in 1997. The text is based on evidence heard at the inquest, but also draws heavily on documents from within the British police investigation which were not made available to the jury at the London inquest.

  • - The Documents the Jury Never Saw
    av John Morgan

Diana Inquest: The Documents the Jury Never Saw exposes a massive suppression of evidence at the 2008 London inquest into the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed. This book - edited by investigative writer John Morgan - publishes for the first time over 100 documents that were withheld from the inquest jury by Lord Justice Scott Baker. It then goes on to list a further 400 items of vital evidence that Baker concealed from his own jury. The withheld documentation is so critical to the case that it calls into question whether the jury were actually in a position to achieve an informed verdict. Included in the 700 page book are the original official police statements of French experts Professor Dominique Lecomte and Dr Gilbert Pepin. Lecomte was the pathologist who conducted the controversial autopsy of Mercedes driver Henri Paul and Pepin was the toxicologist who carried out the testing on the autopsy samples. Both of these crucial witnesses refused to appear at the London inquest. Judge Baker had those statements but failed to have them read out or shown to the jury. Those police statements, along with many other crucial documents, are made public for the first time in this volume. The Documents the Jury Never Saw reveals a judicial censorship of key evidence that was so substantial that it indicates Scott Baker's inquest was more significant for the documents that weren't shown, than for those that the jury actually saw. John Morgan, who has authored a series of books on the Princess Diana inquest, has stated that the London inquest was not run by an independent judge. -The documents in this book are so central to the case, yet royal coroner Scott Baker prevented his jury from seeing them. It could be argued that there was no intention to allow that jury to get to the bottom of what happened in the Alma Tunnel on 31 August 1997.- When this current book is read in the context of Morgan's Diana Inquest series, it enables the reader to understand the significance and reliability of the testimony of certain witnesses.
