Ethical Practice of Statistics and Data Science is intended to prepare people to fully assume their responsibilities to practice statistics and data science ethically. Aimed at early career professionals, practitioners, and mentors or supervisors of practitioners, the book supports the ethical practice of statistics and data science, with an emphasis on how to earn the designation of, and recognize, "the ethical practitioner". The book features 47 case studies, each mapped to the Data Science Ethics Checklist (DSEC); Data Ethics Framework (DEFW); the American Statistical Association (ASA) Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice; and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Code of Ethics. It is necessary reading for students enrolled in any data intensive program, including undergraduate or graduate degrees in (bio-)statistics, business/analytics, or data science. Managers, leaders, supervisors, and mentors who lead data-intensive teams in government, industry, or academia would also benefit greatly from this book. This is a companion volume to Ethical Reasoning For A Data-Centered World, also published by Ethics International Press (2022). These are the first and only books to be based on, and to provide guidance to, the ASA and ACM Ethical Guidelines/Code of Ethics. --

Education is a social practice that poses ethical questions of policy and practice at every level and at almost every turn - what we teach, how we teach, how we organise educational provision, how we research it, who controls it, and what principles drive policy nationally and internationally. This collection is rooted in the author's experience in the education system nationally and internationally over half a century, and reflects both the educational history of this period and the author's experience as a teacher, parent, school governor, teacher trainer, educational researcher, senior leader in higher education, and advisor to governments in many parts of the world. It is, then, historically located, but the approach to ethical questions is primarily in the tradition of analytic philosophy, and applied and situated ethics.

Kaitlin Alexander was a sweetly idealistic young woman, almost dangerously so. Naivete isn't normally a cause for alarm, unless it causes you to fall in love with the wrong man. Kaitlin realized just how wrong he was as she lay severely battered in a Baltimore Hospital Emergency room. When the police question her about her abusive live in boyfriend, Marcus, she makes the pivotal decision not be a victim anymore. She finally has him arrested and presses charges.Three years later, Kaitlin decides to go back to New York to ready the family home for sale. Her only desire is to start over, but trouble dogs her every step. Her new friend and neighbor, Sherise, is in a violent relationship herself. Kaitlin feels compelled to intervene, attracting unwelcomed attention from Sherise's violent, drug dealer husband, Craig. Meanwhile her old crush/new lover Justin's inexplicably sketchy behavior has her terrified she's doomed to repeat the same mistakes of her past. Or was she simply the kind of woman that men felt comfortable leaving like her own abusive father did so long ago? Escalating consequences demanded fateful decisions that she couldn't trust herself to make. If all of that wasn't bad enough, her biggest mistake to date, Marcus, was now on the loose and trying to track her down. How can she manage to build a worthwhile future when her past keeps sucking her back in? Or will she even live long enough for that to be an issue?

A collection of poetic words and Divine insights that will take the reader on a journey that is heart-tugging and thought-provoking. Their perspectives will shift, faith will be strengthened, and their self-worth will elevate and become unbreakable. This is the first published book from poet and author Tahmina Safi. Tahmina has been writing since she could put sentences together on paper. It has always been innately tied with her soul purpose. The pieces in this book were written throughout 6 years in her life that were the most difficult, and therefore the most positively life-altering. She once suffered greatly from crippling social anxiety, depression, lack of self-love and low self-esteem that led her to make poor decisions throughout her life. She was inauthentic, reactive, fearful, impulsive and lost in the darkness of her own self-destructiveness. She didn't pull herself out, God did. The last decade of her life connected her with the energy of God, which is the Universe, the Divine, Love and our own Higher Self. In order to truly align with this energy, she first had to heal, uncover and remove everything that kept her from this self-realization. You cannot truly get to the energy of God aka Love aka your Soul without breaking down all the walls that have been built within yourself throughout your life that kept you from it. This means all of the limiting self-beliefs, the societal, cultural and religious conditioning that were instilled in her, the shadows and demons she carried, the inner child wounds and past traumas. After this decade long journey with many dark nights of the soul, she is ready to share her journey consolidated in the form of her artistic expression of poetry. Spiritual awakening and self-healing are not about getting to a place that is all rainbows, butterflies and optimism. It is about getting to a place of self-awareness, authenticity, intuitiveness and unshakable inner peace. This book is a great step in that direction, and a great one to come back to again and again for a reminder to help you get back in tune with your true Light. These words will seep into you the most when you are either in moments of darkness or in moments of high inspiration, perhaps after meditating, breath-work or praying. Sit with each visceral piece, to really dive in and find the message being given specifically to you. Read them and reread them. If you have been drawn to this collection of poetry, if it has been given to you, then they are meant to speak to you. Listen.

Wrapped within these pages are Christmas "presents" for people who want to look at something very familiar in new and more meaningful ways. Think of it as "Spiritual Stocking Stuffers!"O Come, Let God Adore Us brings you back to Christmas-to Bethlehem, the stable and the manger-and to the Messiah-a different way. And as you come to all the old, familiar places, you may discover that God has come too-to adore you. And as you experience His loving adoration of you, perhaps your adoration of Him will be born anew.

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was a famous English author who wrote Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol. He and his wife Catherine married in 1836, when Charles was 24 and she was 21. From then until the time of their divorce 20 years later, Catherine got pregnant and gave birth to 10 children. It shows that Dickens' own childhood had been painful enough already. At the age of 12, and with his father imprisoned for debt, he had gone to work in a shoe factory, pasting labels on jars of shoe polish for a few necessary shillings each week. His parents had eight children and Charles was the second. Although I don't personally expect my daughter would be a good money maker, which is perfectly fine with me, it seems Dickens had thought differently. Unfortunately, none of his children turned out to be a famous writer like him and he officially lamented that, "having brought up the largest family ever known with the smallest disposition to do anything for themselves." In other words, he had to pay everything for his children until he passed away. It shows that Dickens grew unhappy about his marriage with Catherine, eventually. The record shows that he resented the fact that he had so many children to support; somehow, he saw this as his wife Catherine's fault. He did not approve of Catherine's lack of energy and began to indicate that she was not nor had ever been his intellectual equal. In June 1858, Charles and Catherine filed for divorce, which was rare then, and he started seeing a new woman named Ellen Turnan. >Don't buy this book only because it looks pretty: It can seriously help you financially.
