He soon realizes, however, that whoever he's searching for is far more dangerous than he initially believed. In his short life, master cutler and Freifechter Joachim Meyer appears to have had quite a successful career as a fencing master, teaching craftsmen and noblemen alike while also authoring at least four different fencing treatises (and possibly more). His works became renowned far outside of his own nation and were copied by other authors for over a hundred years after his death. This book contains Dr. Rebecca Garber's entirely new translation of Meyer's longest and most developed treatise, Foundational Description of the Free, Knightly, and Noble Art of Fencing, published in 1570. It teaches complex and sophisticated methods for using all the typical weapons of his day, beginning with the two-handed sword prized by the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer, then showing how traditional German fencing should be applied to the eastern European dusack and the Mediterranean rapier which had become popular as sidearms, and finally covering the dagger and polearms that were commonly used in the militias of the Imperial Free Cities. To aid in the study of this important work, it has been separated into two volumes. In Volume 1, Michael Chidester's transcription of the original German text is included alongside the translation, and hundreds of footnotes have been added throughout. In addition, Christopher VanSlambrouck provides an exhaustive introduction to Meyer and the world that he inhabited. In Volume 2, the 62 elaborate Figures created by the workshop of Hans Christoph Stimmer are printed in two different formats-a set that were lavishly painted in 1574, and a black and white set with the backgrounds removed for clarity-along with compilations of all references to each Figure in the text. The illustrations from the München, Lund, and Rostock manuscripts are also included in appendices for reference, and an introduction by Michael Chidester describes Meyer's book itself and the process of creating books in the 16th century. This book will prove to be an important resource for any student of medieval or early modern fencing.

The purpose of my book is to show children who stutter that they are not alone and that there is a way to over-come their anxiety of talking. I dealt with stuttering since I was two years old and went through speech therapy until I was in the eighth grade. Sadly, I encountered people who were either lacking in knowledge and/or patience. So I taught myself ways to over-come my anxiety of talking, as they appear in my book. In addition to stuttering, I also had a learning disability. Children with learning disabilities are not incapable of learning. They just need different learning tactics.
Our greatest calling is guiding others to know more about Christ and His gift of salvation. We sometimes think only theology experts can do this, but God calls all of us to help others by using our gifts. The blessing of motherhood is a one such gift. While we are busy caring for the daily life of another human being, we also carry the burden of training up our children in God's Word. This weight can feel heavy, like an assignment we can't possibly pull off between making mac and cheese, combing out pigtails, and spinning plates of work, family, and community. There is good news in the midst of the busyness: We have what we need. The best instruction book we receive in life for parenthood is from God Himself. Every day is different, every child is unique but God's Word never changes. As adults, we go through changes as we age and grow in wisdom and experience. Likewise, our children go through seasons of change as they grow and continually learn. The seasons of life we go through ourselves and with our children do not follow the patterns we have grown accustomed to with the weather outside. As mothers, we can take solace in the fact that we may weather any season with Jesus as our helper. It is encouraging to know we are never alone in the forced rest of the bitter cold days of winter, the blooming, rainy days of spring, the hot, humid days of summer, or the rapidly-changing days that come with the finality of fall. WorkHearter invites readers to anchor every season in the One who created them all. Michelle Hollingsworth is a gentle and trusted friend along all parts of the journey, encouraging moms to remember who and Whose they are every day, every moment. This devotional provides a resounding note of hope for each day, no matter the season of life, God's word never fails to assist us daily.

Tired of the romancing of vampires messing around in around in the sheets, when they should be haunting our dreams? Blood Heritage returns to beheading bloodsuckers with two modern female Van Helsings. Vampires are real. But they are not like any Hollywood version wearing capes and espousing "mwah-hah-hah-ing." They lack fangs but not the thirst. These vampires suffer from a disease and need to ingest blood to survive. They don't burst into flames in the sun, nor can they transform into bats, but they do gain super strength, healing and longevity by ingesting blood. After storming the beaches of Normandy Corporal Jack Carlyle is captured during a raid on a Nazi bunker. Along with several other captured GIs, Jack encounters two vampires. One works for the Nazis to create a serum to create a super soldier using the blood of the second vampire. During their escape, Jack receives a mortal wound and the second vampire, Boleslav uses the serum to heal Jack and together they destroy the bunker. Jack passes away of extreme old age and leaves an unexpected gift of land outside of town to his granddaughter, Larsen. Faced with the knowledge her grandfather wasn't who she thought, Larsen must choose which path to follow. She can remain in her nowhere town or embrace the hidden world of hunting vampires. Her choice complicates further when she meets the mysterious and sexy Tawnie who knows more than she's sharing. Larsen is thrown into a new reality that claims vampires are real and human relationships can be more open and confusing than she's expecting. After surviving an unexpected and bloody encounter at a truckstop, Larsen and Tawnie continue with college and training in boxing and martial arts to prepare themselves to hunt vampires. Tracking down and eliminating vampires proves more difficult than expected, as the bloodsuckers are not behaving the same as the ones Jack hunted. Facing vampires that have evolved to utilize technology and work together, both girls realize they each have life-changing or ending secrets that will destroy the friendship they have cultivated.
