Sound. Movement. It's said that the two are inseparable-- literally and metaphorically. Many of us desire to move forward, attain and take ownership of our place in life; yet we find ourselves aimlessly meandering or trudging along, having no idea what is stifling and debilitating our movement no matter what we do. The solution may very well be right in front of you-- or more accurately, right inside of you. The Power Of The Voice addresses the many issues that stop us from becoming who we truly are, and challenges the reader to face the fears that have formed over years of silence and have caused arrested development in many areas. Your unique expression may be the key to your success, to your freedom. Open this book and enter a world that has existed within you from the very beginning; find, regain, and use your unique sound.

Following Book 1, which is a largely personal account of the authors experiences as musician and composer, this, Book 2, now reissued with corrections, takes a more objective stance, contains essays, articles, on musical activity in the wider world. Several were previously published, in periodicals, and as a contribution to a book. Hence these idiosyncratic musings jump about somewhat, con-joining various aspects of 'life, the universe and everything' with notions on the being of music, internally and externally. Some chapters are more pointedly focussed, with specific goals, which certainly applies to some historical essays. And there I make use of a Jungian model of flows in the psyche, which I found highly appropriate to track musical movements, paralleling composers' mind flows. There are thoughts on possible futures for the arts, sonic healing, a readable exposition of the Jungian model, using that in a view of Western music history, archaeology of sounds, a deep view of Indian song, an examination of the interrelations of the characters in 'The Magic Flute' and a history of music at The Bauhaus. A heterodox collection, to be sure, but something there for a wide appreciation of matters musical.

"I have learned so much about grief - yet I know very little. This book is not advice and certainly not answers. I had several goals in mind when I began this project: Provide Space: I'm a firm believer that less is very often more. The last thing many want are more words, more advice, and more "you shoulds." We all need to talk less and listen more. How often we deeply desire someone to ask us how we are and genuinely care enough to listen to our honest response. My hope is for "Into the Water" to offer you space to reflect, pray, rant, color, design, create, laugh, cry, and heal ~ space for what you need in your moment of need... space for your journey to be your own. Share: For those interested in the journey, experiences, and thoughts of others, I invite you to take part in experiences of others who selflessly share part of their walk. Each one of us will experience grief differently ~ as we should, but we can also learn from each other if we are open to doing so. Encourage: I'm a fixer to a fault as my family knows all too well. It takes prayer and great restraint to stop and listen rather than jump in and do. Often times, what others need from us is to merely listen, be present, and allow them to share their struggles without a quick-fix being thrown at them. My hope is to encourage you as you process gently remind you that you are deeply loved & most assuredly not alone. A year into my grief journey, I was drowning. I could not get a hold of my emotions and the daily mood swings. I felt like I was failing myself, failing my family, and frankly, on the edge of crash and burn. A sweet friend listened patiently and said it sounded like I was experiencing all the stages of grief daily. Stages of Grief? I read everything I could to better understand myself, but Elisabeth Kübler-Ross' book, "On Death and Dying" was the most helpful. "Into the Water" is broken into 7 sections to reflect 7 stages of grief. May you find Space here, gain something from those who opted to Share, and may you be Encouraged in knowing that our Lord's love is infinite and sufficient."

The first book from short story writer, poet, and essayist Jennifer Gravley, The Story I Told My Mother questions what it means to be the adult daughter of a mother-and eventually, a daughter without a mother. The opening poems, anchored in this inevitably fraught relationship, recount a desire for connection that is ultimately unachievable with the death of Gravley's mother. The concluding hermit crab essay contends with the messiness and interrupting quality of grief through formal restraint, delivering a ferocious gut punch. For Gravley, language and storytelling are a way forward, and wielding them rebuilds her world and self.

A Demon, a Vampyr, and a Werewolf walk into a bar, and if you're looking for a good time, you should follow them. Where do you go to unwind after a long day of pretending to be human? In Houston there's a place where everyone is welcome, if you can find it. It's an establishment unknown to most ordinary people, and internationally famous to others; a place called "Heaven." There is only one rule: "No Harm Within These Walls." When the regulars overhear the owner, an honest, hardworking man named Dave, receive a call telling him his daughter has been kidnapped, and threatening her murder if he fails to pay, or contacts the police; they are unanimous that this is a very foolish thing for someone to do. They also set out to impart this lesson as only such beings can.So begins the first of the Tales of Heaven, a compact, fast-moving urban fantasy told from the perspectives of several characters, each carrying a piece of the tale, and drawing you, the reader, into a new and more exciting version of the world you already know. The doors of Heaven await your pleasure.
