In the 1850s, the long arm of destiny stretched across the oceans and plucked young George Parsons and some rabbits from a village in England and brought them to a grazier's property in south eastern Australia. The boy, who was ill-treated, made good his escape, as did the rabbits. Both went forth and multiplied. Both cleared the land, one at the bidding of the government, the other because it could. Both changed this ancient land forever. This story follows George Parsons' son and his brood as they and the rabbits independently made their way from east to west Australia. Great-grandson, Alan Parsons, the central figure of this book, was born in the WA Wheatbelt on the eve of the Great Depression. By then the rabbits had become a source of food and cash for rural survival. So began Alan's life of uncharted opportunities in the Golden West. Julie Lenora Parsons is an artist and designer who has been a closet writer all her life. She is no stranger to imaginings, but it is her work in design for performance where she learnt to apply her investigative principles to the realisation of theatre productions. Curiosity led to an interest in the history of performance and finally to the completion of a Masters thesis on the Harlequin at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Not content with hearsay, Julie has researched and debunked apparently misleading family stories. Along the way she found two family historians who were able to assist her in realising the early part of this book. After that she worked solely with her father to bring to life his fascinating and colourful stories.

These are the people you could meet on any day in any town.Seasons of Affection is a collection of short stories set in the author's home town. A small, ordinary town inhabited by ordinary people, busy with the everyday task of living. Yet a central thread of caring pervades the days. Caring for partners and children, for wider family and friends. For the town itself; its heritage and history. Each of the characters is also searching for friendship, independence, affection, love and self-respect. As the seasons in the natural world transition in colour and personality, so too do the ordinary people in this ordinary town, revealing their hidden needs and their hidden selves in the pursuit of happiness. From tales set within the pandemic, as young and old feel their way through a dramatically changing world bedeviled by fake news, to tales from the Victorian era, it seems that the season may pass, but our affections remain true.

A collection of Nursery Rhymes for all the adults who want to know what really happened to Jack and Jill, Little Bo Peep and Doctor Foster. Not to mention what Mary was actually growing in her garden! When we think of a rhyme, with which we passed time, as a child in the playground at school, It would be a short ditty, but much more the pity, it'd be quite mundane as a rule. For old Jack and Miss Jill, would never speak ill, of their partner beside them in verse. But it caused me to wonder, if the truth we could plunder, would their actual behaviour be worse?Would we discover, that Jill was a lover, of violence and mayhem and death?Or would Little Bo Peep, being fed up with sheep, curse them silently under her breath? And so in this book, we'll be taking a look at the criminal lives of a few,Of our favourite "rhymees", and I trust it will please, or at least raise a giggle or two!
